Review: Eternal Pleasure (Gods of the Night #1) by Nina Bangs

Synopsis (via Goodreads):
THE ELEVEN—an alliance of ultimate predators. Primal, lethal, irresistible.

THE PROPHECY—an ancient Mayan prediction that the world will end on 12-21-12.

THE PREY—where can you hide from pure evil?

Kelly Maloy opens her car door to much more than a great looking stranger at the Houston airport. Terror, desire, and a horrible truth climb in with him. She’s only supposed to drive Ty Endeka around the city for a few weeks. Too bad no one tells her that once day fades she’ll become part of a battle fought in the darkened streets with an enemy that isn’t human. And the sensual man who feeds her fantasies hides a soul that gives new meaning to animal magnetism.

Eleven Gods of the Night…

The only creatures more deadly are the ones they’ve been summoned to destroy.
My Thoughts:  I'm going to be honest here, prior to reading this book I'd never really thought of dinosaurs as sexy. Big? Yes. Lumbering? Sometimes. Predatory? Absolutely. Sexy? Not so much.  However, I can say that Nina Bangs has given me a whole new outlook on predatory dinosaur-souled men.

I'm going to say this, and I absolutely don't mean this in a bad way, but I got a Sherrilyn Kenyon Dark-Hunter vibe off the overall mythology of this book.  In the sense that there's something far bigger than what we're being told.  I can see a whole huge backstory swirling around behind Fin that we're going to be given in bits and pieces. And the answers we're given in later books will undoubtedly raise even more questions as to who and what the Eleven are.

Overall, it was a book with strong writing and a well-mapped out mythology.  The characters weren't cookie-cutter personalities and you ultimately cared how Ty and Kelly (FYI, I always think it's weird to type my own name when I'm writing a review) ended up together.  Since we only really met a handful of the men in this book, I'll love learning about the different aspects that each of the Eleven bring to the table as their stories are told.

So there you have it.  Dinosaurs are sexy. Who knew?

  3. Your are right about two things, he is a little like Ash, but its a little different you see in book three and Bangs does gives out little bits as you go. Also book three will give you more insight on where eveything is going. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite sereis.
