Review: A Girl's Guide to Falling in Love with a Zombie (Girl's Guide #1) by Richard Denney

Synopsis (Goodreads):
Rebecca Willis is a 17 year old survivor of a zombie pandemic who’s still in love with her high school crush Lance Tanner, who just happens to be be a zombie. But when things begin to threaten her ties with Lance she must choose over saving her own life & the lives of her friends or saving her zombie.
My Thoughts
Did you guys know I have a thing for zombies? True story. Of course, I'm not quite as bad as Rebecca in this book. I mean, I'm not dating one or anything. Or kinda dating one. Or wanting to date one because before the dude ended up all corpsified I was creepy-stalker girl in love with him. Even though I hadn't really ever spoken to him. Or spent time with him. But, yeah, I still have a thing for zombies.

This novella completely amused me. Well, I didn't find so much amusement in the way Rebecca creepily clung to how much she loved this dead guy, but I liked the worldbuilding and I really liked how Rebecca kinda hated Ollie and was just waiting for her to turn into a zombie so she would have an excuse to kill her. Come on! That's hilarious!

As a word of warning, the story does end pretty suddenly and it looks like book 2 isn't coming out until mid-2012. Just so you know.

Bottom line, I liked it. I liked the snarky attitude of the writing and I'm looking forward to book 2.

  1. Oh, if only we could wish zombie-ness on those that torture us and it would come true. Sounds cute. Thanks for the review!
