Synopsis (Goodreads):
Reyes is a man possessed. Bound by the demon of pain, he is forbidden to know pleasure. Yet he craves a mortal woman, Danika Ford, more than breath and will do anything to claim her—even defy the gods.

Danika is on the run. For months she's eluded the Lords of the Underworld, immortal warriors who won't rest until she and her family have been destroyed. But her dreams are haunted by Reyes, the warrior whose searing touch she can't forget. Yet a future together could mean death to all they both hold dear.…
My Thoughts:  Oh, series! You are wonderful and dark and bloody and I think I kinda love you.  I love your covers and I love your tormented heroes.  I love how the couples from previous books have a spot in later books.  I love that the attraction between the main characters might be instantaneous but the road to get to Happily Ever After is so bumpy I feel like I'm riding in an Amish buggy on an unpaved road.  You know, I take back that last comment.  It's possible that Amish buggies have excellent shocks.  I think it would be more like a frontier wagon in the Old West.  I've sort of lost my train of thought, so I'm just going to move on.

I've been waiting for Reyes' story since he had such an instant reaction to Danika in book 1.  Reyes is a flat-out mess.  His demon needs pain so it doesn't go crazy.  He fears that Pain will infect Danika if they're ever together, driving her to hurt the ones she loves.  He's unwilling to allow that to happen so he holds himself away from her.  Except, you know, she's his and he can't stay away.

So, what's a Demon-possessed Lord to do when the lady he loves is being hunted by one of his brothers at the decree of the Gods?  He keeps her by his side of course.  To protect her.  Not at all to sex her up or anything.  Because that would be wrong.  Right?  Uh-huh.  Wrong.  Nevermind that he can barely keep his hands off her.  Or his eyes off her.  Or his lips off her.  Oh, who are we kidding?  Those two were bound to tangle up the sheets at one point or another.

I'm still completely devasted by Paris and his tragedy.  Even more so now, actually.  If that guy doesn't get some sort of HEA, I'll cry.

I love the direction the overall arc has taken.  The more we learn about these guys, the more I want to learn.  Book 4, are you ready for me?

  3. This is one of my favs! GO REYES! Those tortured heros do it for me like no other.

    Gena is so sneaky with the whole Paris deal. I feel so bad for him. His book releases in 2012 but we STILL don't know who the heroine is D;
