Review: Lyric's Cop (Crime Tells #1) by Jory Strong

Synopsis (Goodreads):
Solving a case about pilfered pooches is pretty tame work for a vice cop, but when the victim is your grandmother, well... the police take care of their own. Trouble is, one look at Lyric Montgomery, the PI his grandmother has hired to recover her stolen dachshunds, and Kieran Burke knows he's got a problem. He's never been turned on so fast—or so attracted to a hellion with a reputation for breaking the law.

Lyric Montgomery can't believe she's falling for a cop. She's always had a little problem staying inside the lines, and Kieran is definitely a complication she doesn't need. But his dominant, I'm-in-control attitude tempts her like fire tempts a pyromaniac.

Kieran may lay down the rules, but he quickly finds out that for Lyric, breaking them is half the fun, especially when it drives him crazy and evokes his special brand of ""punishment"".

As the trail heats up, it isn't the only thing burning hot enough to melt steel. Bad boy Kieran finds the only way to keep his sexy little pet detective safe may be tying her to his bed—permanently.
My Thoughts:  Does anybody else ever pick up a book hoping it's just dirrrrrrty as all get?  And then you start reading it and you're like, "Yes! This totally works for me!"  And then you get to then end and you realize there was an actual plot behind all the steam?  Isn't that a nice feeling?  I enjoy it.

When I first started reading this book I was just looking for a little naughty escapism.  I got that.  I got that in spades.  Kieran has that whole Alpha male vibe going for him.  It's sexy.  It's hot.  It drives Lyric up the wall.  He wants her, she wants him.  Needless to say, they don't waste a lot of time on the preliminaries.  And there's nothing wrong with that.  Meanwhile, a diabolical pet-napping scheme is afoot.  Lyric and Kieran must solve the case between copious amounts of sexing.  Lyric's penchant for getting into trouble lands her in hot water and Kieran gets to show her what sexy Alpha's do when they're crossed.

In case you couldn't figure it out, I had fun with this book.  It's fast paced, the characters have sex creatively and often, and the bad guys are dispicable.  My one complaint is that the ending was very abrupt, almost to the point that I thought I had missed something.  I'm tempted to think that the next book in the series ties up some of the loose ends, but I'm none too sure of that.  Still, the sexing was good and the characters were fun.  I can't ask for much more than that.
