Bout of Books 4.0 Wrap-Up

Bouts of Books 4.0 is over. =( Check out the Bout of Books blog to see how the other participants fared.

Time Devoted to Reading
In a shocking and highly suspicious turn of events, I committed to the entire week. No, REALLY!

My Goals
I was aiming for 10 books (although I had a list of 13). After hitting my 10 book goal on Day 4, Amanda suggested that I try to outdo my personal best Bout of Books - which was 18 books read in the first Bout of Books. It sounded like a good plan to me. So I did it. And... MAH BRAIN!

Books Read
Bonus Books
Books on my list that I didn't get to
  • Blue Moon (The Immortals #2) by Alyson Noel - Started it on the last day but I couldn't get my brain to cooperate. Sad. I'll likely read this one soon-ish.

Updates
5/14
Number of books I’ve read today: 3.4
Total number of books I’ve read: 3.4
Books read:  Zombie Mommy, Creating Merry Hell, Tempted, 40% of What Zombies Fear
Today #insixwords: Bout of Books, you are MINE!
Things I learned on Twitter: I really enjoyed manning @boutofbooks on Twitter in the morning. It did cut into my reading time a bit but I managed to sneak in a few pages between chatting with people. For the record, I slept approximately 3 hours (from 2:30am to 5:30am) Monday and was EXHAUSTED during my manning session. I'm shocked at how coherent I was. Also for the record, I missed flirting with my beloved @Rehvenge_BDB because I was napping when he was online. This has plunged me into the depths of melancholy and now I fear I'm going to start writing bad poetry and dressing all in black. Oh... wait. I already have the "dressing all in black" thing down. And I actually write fairly well. Dammit! There goes my plan to wallow in my no-longer-teen angst.
Things I learned on Tumblr: The #PeenSafari is a BIG hit. Finding those wild peens can be very distracting!

5/15
Number of books I’ve read today: 2.6
Total number of books I’ve read: 6
Books read: 60% of What Zombies Fear, Seven Minutes in Heaven, Charmfall
Today #insixwords: Watch me get my read on!
Things I learned on Twitter: I woke up this morning with some seriously aching wrists. Which, naturally, makes me wonder what I was *doing* last night. *waggles brows* I'm just kidding. I was simply on Twitter waaaay too much yesterday. And today I wasn't on any less. I expect tomorrow will be a banner Twitter day as well since I'm manning @boutofbooks for both of the sessions. Annnnnyyyyywho. I miss my @Rehvenge_BDB.
Things I learned on Tumblr: If you want to find some Peen on Tumblr, you can find some Peen. Yum.

5/16
Number of books I’ve read today: 2 plus part of 1 other but I'm too tired to figure out what that translates to.
Total number of books I’ve read: 8
Books read: Seduction of a Highland Lass, Anna and the French Kiss
Today #insixwords: Today was my day of rest.
Things I learned on Twitter: The Twitter chat was wicked fun and I was WAY impressed that Amanda jailed not one but TWO accounts! Well done, Amanda! Other than that, the entire day is something of a blur. So... yeah.
Things I learned on Tumblr: Ken dolls DO NOT belong on the #PeenSafari. Even if they have tattoos.

5/17
Number of books I’ve read today: 2
Total number of books I’ve read: 10 <--LOOK! That was my target! I have achieved my goal! I will never be better than this moment. NEVER! Well, until tomorrow.
Books read: Radiant Shadows, Descended by Blood
Today #insixwords: I have hit my #boutofbooks goal!
Things I learned on Twitter: Everybody loves Anna and the French Kiss! Other than that... uhh... nothing much happened. I didn't get to have sexy Twitter time with my @Rehvenge_BDB. In fact, I've missed him every time he's been on THIS ENTIRE WEEK! WOE! I did, however, manage to get caught up on reviews. Except for the books I read today. I haven't reviewed those yet. Dangit.
Things I learned on Tumblr: Oh.mi.god. I didn't even open Tumblr UP today! THIS IS TERRIBLE! I must fix it immediately.

5/18
Number of books I’ve read today: 5
Total number of books I’ve read: 15
Books read: Come Monday, Curran, Fathers and Sons, Running Hot, Dark Mercy
Today #insixwords: How did I even manage this?
Just so you know: Amanda dared me to try to read as many books as I read during the first Bout of Books. I told her I would attempt it. Thus, shorter books for today. *falls over in an ungainly heap* There was a lot of reading going on this AM.
Things I learned on Twitter: Were things happening in the world today? I WOULDN'T KNOW BECAUSE I READ FIVE BOOKS AND MOST OF ANOTHER ONE AND I THINK I DON'T HAVE A BRAIN ANYMORE! *collapses* Guys, I can't say no when people are all "You should try to do better than you've ever done before." So I'm attempting to read at least 18 books (which will put me even with my 1st Bout of Books reads) but I'd really like to read 19. WHAT THE GIRAFFE IS WRONG WITH ME???
Things I learned on Tumblr: I have no problem looking at porntastic pictures of men and their dangly parts all day. Ya'll can thank me later!

5/19
Number of books I’ve read today: 4
Total number of books I’ve read: 19
Books read: Daughter of Smoke and Bone, At His Mercy, Damage, True Mates
Today #insixwords: DoSaB killed me dead. No fooling.
Things I learned on Twitter:  Honestly, I tried to stay off Twitter today. I had my weekly wrap up post to get ready for tomorrow and I was busy finishing up another book or 3. Oh, yeah. I'm also crazy tired. *yawn* I love it if a nice, tall, tattooed vampire stopped by and let me curl up against him for a little nap. I'm looking at you, @Rehvenge_BDB. I did have a great afternoon session on the @boutofbooks account where I got to chat about stories I'm writing and books I love. I somehow managed to put @boutofbooks in Twitter jail. That makes me laugh because I didn't think I was tweeting *that* much! Lol!
Mini-challenge: Here's my book spine poetry for Smash's challenge! I've bolded the titles below.
Magic Bites the Unclean Spirits
While The Undead Next Door Shatter Me
If I Die, show No Mercy.
The Timeless Kiss of Fury is Deeper Than Midnight.

5/20
Number of books I’ve read today: ZERO
Total number of books I’ve read: 19
Today #insixwords: brain fried brain fried brain fried
Things I learned on Twitter: Whaaaaa? I'm done for a few days. Checked out. Couldn't concentrate to save my life. Well, maybe to save my life. But I couldn't concentrate to handle heavy machinery. Zzzzzz. I need sleepies.
Also, I will be stalking @Rehvenge_BDB like a demented giraffe shifter this next week. He's not going to know what hit him.

As always, a HUGE thank you to everyone who helped make this Bout of Books run smoothly. Amanda, you are a peach and I am so proud to be part of your team!

  4. Congrats! I'm amazed that you read that much and still managed to do so much interacting too! (Although, I still would like to throw down the gauntlet - I've been thinking about when I read Anna, which you mentioned reading in 4 hrs, and it just so happens I read it during a car ride, so I know exactly how long I had. The car ride was 4.5 hrs, and in that time I finished Anna, Enclave by Ann Aguirre and part of another short book... so yeah. I challenge you! Someday lol)

Thanks for all your hard work putting this together, and for talking to me so much on twitter. I had tons of fun, and I will definitely be back for 5.0!

  7. Are you sure you didn't mean that your brain is fired? I seem to recall something of that nature.

And thank YOU for all that you did. As in, keeping me sane. It was touch and go for a while there.
