Review: For You by Mimi Strong

For You by Mimi Strong
Synopsis (Goodreads):
I should have known by the tattoos that Sawyer was trouble. My mother always said to stay away from boys with ink, but she ignored her own advice. She also abandoned me and my little sister.

Life's been hard for the two of us, on the run and on our own, but I just turned twenty-one and started working at a bar in a new city. I wear a fake wedding band and a veil of lies.

My gold ring didn't stop Sawyer. He looked into me with his heavenly green eyes, and I nearly forgot my pretty lies. Now he wants to help me get my life together.

I should stay away, because he could blow my cover. When we get found—and I know one day we will—I want my sister to be old enough to handle the truth about our past.

I may be hanging out with Sawyer, but we're definitely not dating. I swear, he's not setting me on fire with every glance or casual touch. We're just friends. I'm not thinking about him wrapping those tattooed arms around me, every second of every day.
My Thoughts: Oh, I liked this one! I did have a point where I had to put the book down for a bit because OMG!SAWYER!WHATAREYOUDOING?!?!? but it all turned out okay in the end. IT ALL TURNED OUT OKAY! And the "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" became "Whew. Good job, Sawyer!" Well played, Mimi Strong. Well played.

Aubrey is kinda screwed up. Not in a good, quirky way. In a paranoid, sad way. She's seen the bad things in the world and she's not willing to give her trust easily. Frankly, there were times when I thought Sawyer was a saint for putting up with her. Because this girl does not make it easy on him.

Not at all.

But he perseveres and things progress and it's good. IT'S GOOD! Added bonus: Kissing. Hot kissing. Hot kissing that (on occasion) turns into public groping. NICE!

I liked Sawyer's sense of humor and his snark. I liked watching Aubrey's story unfold. I liked the kissing. And the stuff that went with the kissing. It all came together nicely and made me a happy reader.

A fast, light read with a hero that reminded me just how much I like men with ink who know how to steam up the sheets. What more do you need?
