Bout of Books 8.0 Starting Line and Updates

Bout of Books 8.0 is here! Check out the Bout of Books blog to see the ins and outs of what to expect from this read-a-thon. Reminders for the daily challenges (if you wish to participate), Twitter chats, etc will be posted to keep you in the loop. Now, let's get our read on!

Time Devoted to Reading
As is my norm, I shall be dedicating this entire week to reading. However, I'm also working on a book so... there's that.

My Goals
10 books. I like that number. TEN. That's what I want to try to get done. Oh, and make this an AWESOME Bout of Books. Then there're those chats. I'll be there for those. I shall also cheer people on. And... umm... yeah. Maybe that's all.

Anywho...

Updates 8/19
Number of books I’ve read today: 4
Total number of books I’ve read: 4
Books read: Three Ways to Wicked, Blood and Stone, Ethan's Mate, New Beginnings
Today #insixwords:  Four books and a hot day.
Things I learned on Twitter: When I tweet too much, my wrist hurts. Oooooouuuuuch. I attempted to convince @bookpairing that a Stiff Dick is REALLY a drink, not just a naughty body part. Also, it's hotter than Satan's ball sac here in the Bay Area. SERIOUSLY, I don't like sweating this much.
Final Tally: Three naughty lovers, a shapeshifting giant, one vampire who found some hot lovin', and a psychic werewolf trying to hold onto her mate.

8/20
Number of books I’ve read today: 2
Total number of books I’ve read: 6
Books read: (Mis)fortune, Three Nights with a Scoundrel
Today #insixwords: Where did the day go? Anyone?
Things I learned on Twitter: Uhh... I wasn't really on Twitter today. That's the unfortunate side effect of having a sister who's a teacher and who REQUIRES your assistance helping her get the last minute things done in her classroom for the first day of school tomorrow. So... *waves sadly at Twitter* I'll be around tomorrow, though. I think.
Final Tally: One traumatized young lady and the wolf who wants to protect her and a historical couple who don't follow all of society's rules.

8/21
Number of books I’ve read today: 3
Total number of books I’ve read: 9
Books read: Binding the Shadows, One Silent Night, The Gathering
Today #insixwords: I HAVE A BOOK COMING OUT!
Things I learned on Twitter: I jailed myself at the 45 minute mark of the chat. Boom! Better than Amanda! (because she jailed herself 3 minutes after the chat was over. HA!) I announced that I have a book coming out soon. Soon-ish, at least. Which reminds me... OMG! I HAVE A BOOK COMING OUT SOON-ISH! I confessed my undying love for a certain amethyst eyed hunk of vampire. *swoons in Rehvenge's general direction* All in all, it was a good day!
Final Tally: One devilish couple who kick some ass, one villain who I love to hate, and a group of kids with extraordinary abilities.

8/22
Number of books I’ve read today: 3
Total number of books I’ve read: 12
Books read: Bad erotica for GLA, Taste of Candy, The Artist's Inheritance
Today #insixwords: Tentacles, ghosties, and gargoyles! Oh, my!
Things I learned on Twitter: I found the most winningest winner of a pic that would make an EXCELLENT tentacle erotica cover. Mostly safe for work. Mostly. We snuck in a bonus, impromptu #boutofbooks chat after evening announcements (THANK YOU, SHARON!) and I got to talk about how many books I've read this week. Niiiiice.
Final Tally: One case of badly visualized erotica, a rocker who dominates his lady friend, and a good, old fashioned ghost story.

8/23
Number of books I’ve read today: 2
Total number of books I’ve read: 14
Books read: Snatched by the Greys, Caitlin's Book of Shadows
Today #insixwords: More writing than reading. That's okay!
Things I learned on Twitter: Ha! Oh, the #boutofbooks #gla was FANTASTIC. So many people reading the same bad erotica book at once! *high five* Want to see the tweets? We have a Storify for that! Other than our awesome GLA, I wasn't on twitter much. Why? you ask. Oh, that would be because I've started writing book 2 in my demon/werewolf series. The opening scene popped into my head fully formed this morning and I KNEW I had to get it down. So... I was writing. Word count for the day: 5,012 words. Boom. I <3 this story.
Final Tally: One chick getting boned by a massive alien baton. Or two. Yeah, you read that right. Their love guns were primed and ready to go off. Oh, and a woman haunted by an evil imp. Which is a different story from the alien love gun. Seriously.

8/24
Number of books I’ve read today: 3
Total number of books I’ve read: 17
Books read: The Calling, Stone Soldier, Stone Soldiers: Catching Fire
Today #insixwords: Holy crap, I'm tired. Sleep needed.
Things I learned on Twitter: I was online for the chat this morning and that's about it. And now I'm too tired to think. So... yeah.
Final Tally: One skin-walker, one upstanding soldier, one fire elemental looking to make things burn.

8/25
Number of books I’ve read today: 2
Total number of books I’ve read: 19
Books read: Wild Card, Any Duchess Will Do
Today #insixwords:And #boutofbooks draws to a close.
Things I learned on Twitter: I was not on Twitter today. I was everywhere BUT Twitter, in fact. I do kind of wish that I was able to squeeze one last book in so that I can say that I doubled my reading goal but... *shrug* I'm cool with reading 19 books this week. TOTALLY COOL.
Final Tally: Two dirty werewolves and a Duke who needs a good woman.

  5. Look at how organized you are! Impressive, as per usual. With all those books I'm surprised that we don't have any in common. Although, I do have a Dark Hunter book on my list and several of my reads are on my Seriously Series list too. I love multi-tasking ;)

    1. I'm rereading some of my favorite series as part of the Seriously Series challenge. I had the same problem where I WANTED to read them again but kept picking up new books. SS gave me the perfect excuse to reread.

  12. As usual, there's no way I can keep up with your ALL THE BOOKS! reading speed... but I'll stand over here and wave and cheer you on with a suitable expression of awe and reverence, if that would be acceptable? *practises in the mirror until it looks a bit less pained* :D
Happy reading, hosting and book-writing this week!
