Synopsis (Goodreads):
Even in a world of freaks, being a Firestarter is considered a dangerous Gift.

Lucy was born with the ability to create and control fire. She longs to leave the human world for one filled with Earthshakers, Transporters, and Chameleons, to name a few. When she rejoins the circus, it’s everything she hoped it could be—new friends, a potential love interest or two, and a place where she can be herself.

When troupe members begin turning up dead, however, Lucy is suspected of foul play. She must not only prove her innocence but also realize the full extent of her power. To find the real murderer, she must uncover the truth behind her father’s fiery legacy while figuring out whom to trust within her new circle. Little does she know the history of the Donovan Circus and its enemies might actually destroy the entire gifted world.
Thoughts on Gifted: Oh, hey. I liked this book. It was fun and a little twisted. Seeing as how I enjoy BOTH those things, it worked out nicely for me. Also, I need to go on record as saying that despite my fear of clowns, I didn't have any problems with the clowns in this book. I'm not saying that I'm planning on cuddling up with one in the near future (because I'm NOT!), but I was OKAY WITH THESE CLOWNS. Probably because the clowns didn't have a big role. And, you know, I could pretend they were just regular people who liked to pack themselves into small cars.

Anyway. No, wait. I should probably mention there's a love triangle in this book. Well, it's mostly a triangle. There's the possibility it was trying to be a rectangle. Anyway. I loved Gabriel's take on the Alpha/Beta mentality in regards to girls. For the record, I know who I want her to end up with. *crosses fingers*

Anyway again. Lucy. She has some skill. Little bit. Yeah, I'm lying. She hit the Firestarter jackpot and came home a winner. She can throw fireballs and take names better than most. This puts a target on her back when the bad things start happening. Good thing she has her new friends to lean on when the going gets tough.

I had fun reading this book. Lucy has a different mindset than most of the other circus folk -- her father drilled into her the importance of maintaining control at all times so her power doesn't hurt anyone -- and she had to find a way to loosen the chokehold she had on her emotions. She has a couple of guys who are interested in her and managed to score some quality kisses.

Quality kisses are always a plus.

I have book 2 waiting for me to read it!
