Synopsis (Goodreads):
The Ivy House team is shaping up, but there are still holes to be filled, and a magical summons outstanding. Jessie needs a teacher. Someone who can fit in with the whacky Ivy House crew. And that was going just fine...until she gets a request to host a powerful, neighboring mage.

A teacher isn't going to be enough. She needs more power in her crew. She needs some might.

This time, Austin Steele might not be able to dominate what she calls in, creatures no shifter has ever dominated before.

But that isn't all Austin has to worry about. After a skirmish in the bar, suddenly his whole world is turned upside down. He can no longer ignore the feelings that have been growing for Jess.

He also can't ignore the town's complete lack of readiness for the neighboring mage's visit. He must call in his brother to help lock down the town. And when his brother arrives, he must finally hash out the past that has split them apart so that he can claim his future.
Thoughts on Magical Midlife Love: Okay. It's taken Jess a while to find people who fit with her and the house and things are coming together nicely. Mostly. She's still uncertain about her powers and she's so new to everything magical that sometimes she does things that take everybody by surprise, but she's getting there.

Sure, sure, there are still battles to be fought and dangers to be faced and WHOOPS a couple of crazy-strong individuals who are answering her magical summons, but everything will work out. Probably.

On the romance front, we're finally getting somewhere. With Austin's brother rolling into town to help with the coming battle, he has someone who can actually give him advice. Or maybe he's just finally willing to listen to said advice. Regardless, Austin and Jess start moving in the right direction instead of insisting they were just friends. (Look, I ship. I'm not ashamed of it. I want these two together something fierce and YESSSSS.)

On the bid for power front...WHAT THE HECK? I have no clue how this is going to play out and what the revelations at the end will mean in the long run. Jess has assembled a strong crew who are loyal to her and the House, but...I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S COMING AND OMG FLAIL FLAIL FLAIL.

So anyway. Looking forward to the next book. You know, in case that wasn't clear.
