Synopsis (Goodreads):
Can Beauty tame her Beast?

Driven to his death by the demon of Distrust, Baden spent centuries in purgatory. Now he's back, but at what cost? Bound to the king of the underworld, an even darker force, he's unable to withstand the touch of another and he's quickly devolving into a heartless assassin with an uncontrollable temper. Things only get worse when a mission goes awry and he finds himself saddled with a bride just not his own.

Famed dog trainer Katarina Joelle is forced to marry a monster to protect her loved ones. When she's taken hostage by the ruthless, beautiful Baden immediately after the ceremony, she's plunged into a war between two evils with a protector more dangerous than the monsters he hunts. They are meant to be enemies, but neither can resist the passion burning between them and all too soon the biggest threat is to her heart.

But as Baden slips deeper into the abyss, she'll have to teach him to love or lose him forever.
Thoughts on The Darkest Torment: It's Baden's time to shine and...he's kind of a mess. I mean, not only has the guy been living a (mostly) solitary existence as a spirit for the past however many years, he's now bound to Hades AND hosting an entity who has a massive chip on its shoulder. And since Hades isn't much on sharing, the missions he's being sent on are slowly eating away at him.

Yup, the once easiest going Lord is turning into an angry, violent grump who's afraid he'll end up hurting his friends and their respective mates.

Then he steals Katarina away from her wedding and EVERYTHING changes. Partially because Katarina is used to dealing with canines who have their own issues and she approaches Baden the same way she'd approach a snarling junkyard dog. Which is to say, she has a gift for taming wild things and she uses it on Baden to help him deal with his issues.

MEANWHILE...things are still chaotic overall. There's war on the horizon and sides being chosen and VERY IMPORTANT THINGS happening. Cameo's on a mission (of her own making), Gillian's in a bit of a pickle of her own, and beasts are practically coming out of the woodwork. Good times all around!
