Amanda and Kelly review: Sweet Surprise by Leigh Ellwood

Sweet Surprise (Sweet Sierra #1) by Leigh Ellwood
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Creepy Sierra Glade isn't on the list of any delivery driver's favorite stops, so when Josie is stuck bringing Dixie Belle Ice Cream to the local sweet shop the last thing she expects is a one-man barricade. Gorgeous, hunky Lur has issues with Dixie Belle and intends to take it out on poor Josie, one orgasm at a time.

Our Thoughts
Amanda: So, let me ask you: did the use of ice cream satisfy you in this book? It's used a bit more than in our last ice cream book.

Kelly: Yes. I found much more satisfaction in the creative use of ice cream this time around.

Amanda: Even though the ice cream was only used on Josie's toes? Whipped cream and cherries were used in other places.

Kelly: Ahh... her toes weren't the only placed that got creamed.

Amanda: She got creamed all over the place, actually. You know what else I liked? She was ready to orgasm just by looking at her pirate pedestrian. Also, she got her deep-dicking. And she changed her name mid-story to Julie, and then back to Josie again. I wonder if that was the pirate pedestrian's magnificent magic that did it.

Kelly: Hey! Some guys are just SO GOOD it only takes one look to get a lady's motor revving to the boiling point. Wait. I missed a mid-story name change? Curses!

Amanda: Yup. She went from Josie to Julie to Josie in the space of a few paragraphs. It was magical! Oh, and let's speculate: Josie got her deep-dicking with pirate pedestrian (did he have a name? If he did, I've forgotten it) in the cab of her delivery vehicle. Supposedly, the windows and windshield were fogged over, though Josie talks about being able to see the helicopter outside. How much do you suppose their sexcapes were witnessed by the rest of Sierra Glade?

Kelly: I postulate that ALL of it was seen by the fine citizens of Sierra Glade. I believe they were given a standing O once they had finished. (heh) Also, I think I love the phrase "deep-dicking". I'm going to try to slip it into casual conversation to see people's reactions.

Amanda: Oh, slip in the deep-dicking comment? You deserve a #GutterPass for that comment.

Kelly: Thank you. I've been slacking on the #GutterPass-ing lately. I think a little deep-dicking will get things moving again. PS: The pedestrian pirate's name was Lur. I'm trying to imagine shouting that out in a moment of passion... Oh, LUR! *stares* I don't know. Oh, hey. If his sister's name is Dixie Belle, does that make his name Lur Belle?

Amanda: Oh yeah! Lur. Gee, with a name like that, how could I ever forget? Didn't Josie get all wet and excited over his name?

Kelly: I think she liked the way it rolled off her tongue. And then she liked the way his tongue rolled off her clit. *finger guns*

Amanda: She was a big fan of his mouth and what he did with it.

Kelly: She was a big fan of his mouth before he even got in the truck. I believe there was some internal dialogue about spontaneous clit explosion. And the mental picture for that one makes me cringe.

Amanda: Yes! I remember the clit explosion part. I almost tweeted that line at you when I read it. I'm all about the sharing.

Kelly: Lur and Josie/Julie are all about the sharing, too! They like to share their sexploits with the good citizens of Sierra Glade. They like to... umm... actually, that's the only thing I can come up with. Huh.

Amanda: OH WAIT. I just remembered another use for the ice cream! It was only referred to... but... Josie does talk about cooling her pussy on a carton of ice cream after seeing Lur because he was making her so hot.

Kelly: YES! She was going to sit on it to quench the fires that his ravishing presence kindled. Honestly, that doesn't seem very sanitary.

Amanda: I bet Lur would have liked her pussy-contaminated ice cream.

Kelly: O.O

Amanda and Kelly review: Tentacle Double Penetration by CJ Smalls

Tentacle Double Penetration by CJ Smalls
Synopsis (Amazon):
Donna’s getting tired of blind date after blind date set up by her friend Sally. Sally sets her up for one more date with a man named Nathan Forester. Of course Donna doesn’t want another awkward date that leads nowhere, but when her friend promises no more matchmaking if this one doesn’t work out, she accepts. She’s pleasantly surprised. Nathan is charming and sweet, and after a long dry spell she’s ready to drink up the handsome man. Sex with Nathan, though, isn’t anything she could have expected, but with particular genetics, she’ll soon find that double penetration is harder, stronger, and better when tentacles are involved!

Warning: This ebook contains very explicit descriptions of sexual activity during an alien tentacle sex encounter. It includes rough sex, oral sex, tentacle sex, anal sex, and double penetration. It is intended for mature readers who will not be offended by graphic depictions of sex acts between consenting adults.
Our Thoughts:
Amanda: This book certainly provides us with a new take on cocks.

Kelly: I think my favorite thing was that the main girl character's name started out as Donna and switched to Amy mid-stream. *high five*

Amanda: I *thought* something was weird there, but I was too distracted by her being 22, "hopelessly single," and a grad student. Actually, when Nate yelled her name when he came, I was like, "Wait, is that her name?" but I was too scarred to go back and search for it.

Kelly: Scarred? What's that you say? The nest of tentacles at his groin scarred you? How can you say that? He was all about her pleasure. Filling her up. In more ways than one.

Amanda: You know what? He's got an adjustable cock. Not enough cock? NO PROBLEM. He just inserts another tentacle into whatever orifice needs filling.

Kelly: Exactly. He custom fits himself to whatever the lady needs. Bravo, Nate. BRAVO! On the double plus side, only his groin tentacles came. Unlike the last tentacle book we read. Of course, they came A LOT, but still...

Amanda: All his tentacles were in his groin region. And I'm pretty sure that all his tentacles came. I guess it depends on how many tentacles he had. Because Nate had seven tentacles in Donna/Amy (four in the front and three in the back for those who were curious). I suppose if you're coming from seven tentacles, you're going to come a lot.

Kelly: I think he had other tentacles, too. Ones that acted like hands but weren't groin tentacles. Amy specifically mentioned the mass of tentacles at his groin and the tentacles that went down his legs. He was tentacular!

Amanda: Yes, but he took his shirt off without any other tentacles. Were there any mention of him using his tentacles in other ways while having sex? I'll wait for you to check.

Kelly: He was touching her all over. He had some tentacles up by her mouth, her throat, her shoulders, and some by her feet. There were LONG tentacles. And how did you know I was going to tell *you* to take your time checking? GET OUT OF MY HEAD!

Amanda: Yes, but that was BEFORE he started with the double penetration. You might have to reread this story so we can get it straight.

Kelly: I've already read it twice. All his tentacles were below the waist but they weren't all penis tentacles. I'm 87% certain that I can provide proof of this. Maybe.

Amanda: How do you tell penile tentacles from non-penile tentacles? That's what I want to know.

Kelly: "He had tentacles lying down the length of his otherwise normal legs; actual tentacles, thick and dark and fleshy with a dull shine to their black surfaces as if they were slightly moist. And - this is what really had me frozen in shock - instead of a cock he had a mass of the things writhing between his legs." (locations 96-106)

And to answer your question: I don't know. Maybe it's an inborn gift that Amy/Donna has.

Amanda: Well, Amy/Donna really did like those tentacles. Except when she was afraid they weren't going to fit. My answer, though: they were all penile tentacles. Penile tentacles in the mouth, on the breasts, EVERYWHERE. (Penile tentacles for everyone!) Actually, I wonder if Nate is bi-sexual. I think he needs to meet the seven troll kings. He'd have places to put all his tentacles! Imagine the fun!

Kelly: Holy Toledo! The shenanigans would be ENDLESS!

Review: A Perfect Blood by Kim Harrison

A Perfect Blood (The Hollows #10) by Kim Harrison
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Ritually murdered corpses are appearing across Cincinnati, terrifying amalgams of human and other. Pulled in to help investigate by the I.S. and FIB, former witch turned day-walking demon Rachel Morgan soon realizes a horrifying truth: a human hate group is trying to create its own demons to destroy all Inderlanders, and to do so, it needs her blood.

She's faced vampires, witches, werewolves, demons, and more, but humanity itself might be her toughest challenge yet.
My Thoughts: It took me a bit to get into this book. I don't know why exactly except that I keep thinking that Rahel felt off to me. Which makes sense to me now that I'm thinking about it because she was half the witch/demon person she normally was since she had cut herself off from the ley lines. Still, it took a while to fall back into her world and it made the first part of the book a bit sluggish. On the other hand, once she was back in the thick of things - needling Trent, ditching her security, making things go boom - I was hooked. I have to admit, her interactions with Trent grow more and more intriguing. The two of them are like oil and water at times and yet... they work. I won't lie, I want to see them give into their weird attraction and get naked.

One thing that I'm noticing is that Rachel seems to backslide every so often and decide that she's not going to deal with her issues. In the earlier books, she didn't want to admit that her blood could kindle demon magic. Now, she doesn't want to admit that she is a demon. I get that changing a mindset that's been with her from birth isn't going to happen at the drop of a hat, but she was crippling herself by cutting herself off from the demon side of her magic. I wanted to give her a good shake and tell her to put her dig demon panties on and deal with it.

I liked that we didn't know who to trust or what their intentions were when it came down to the different sides of the investigation. I liked that Rachel is starting to accept the bonds of friendship that have been laid out by people outside her core group. I liked seeing the softer side of Trent offset by the side that's willing to do anything to help someone he's given his word to.

While the beginning felt slow, the introduction of two powerful, opposing factions moved the end along nicely. Here's to hoping that Rachel actually sticks to her plan to fix the mess she left in the Ever After so we can see her doing what she's so good at - kicking ass and taking names - in the next book. And, you know, if she *needs* to get naked with Trent, who am I to argue?

Series review: Turkish Delights by Liz Crowe

Liz Crowe is a new-to-me author who blew me away with her three interconnected stories in the 1 Night Stand series. I've read novels that didn't pack as much punch as these short stories did and I'm *thrilled* that I've had a chance to play in her world.

Books in the Turkish Delights series (Decadent Publishing)
Prequel: The Diplomat's Daughter
1. Turkish Delights (1 Night Stand #54) - Kindle
2. Blue Cruise (1 Night Stand #57) - Kindle
3. Tulip Princess (1 Night Stand #58) - Kindle
4. Flower Passage: Tarkan's Return

All books in the 1 Night Stand Series

Turkish Delights (Turkish Delights #1)
Synopsis (Goodreads):
The fifteen year age difference between Elle Kensington, expatriate American executive and Emre Deniz, son of Istanbul's most successful businessmen, has not kept them from becoming fast friends as they toured Istanbul together. But the time has come for him to return to the U.S. to finish his master's degree, and she has just been named CEO of the pharmaceutical company that brought her to Turkey in the first place. Elle adores her adopted country, and is alarmed to find herself falling in love with the young man who's been her impromptu guide for the last few months.

She knows they can never be. She will return home to California within a month, leaving behind all she loves about the ancient city. In a rare fit of spontaneity, Elle has contracted with Madame Eve's 1Night Stand dating service, hoping to find a way to forget the dark, handsome young man who has captured her heart. Little does she know what awaits her in the ancient recesses of the Ottoman palace turned luxury hotel under the hands of her one-night stand masseur.
My Thoughts: A fairly quick dip into Elle and Emre's blossoming relationship. The age difference bothers Elle but Emre sees nothing wrong with it. He uses his wiles to get them both in a position to admit that they're not just friends, she becomes an enthusiastic participant. The fact that they were friends before jumping into bed (or on the massage table, as the case may be) made this feel pleasantly real. I was also thrilled with the secondary characters that populated the story, namely Caleb and Tarkan.

Blue Cruise (Turkish Delights #2)
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Caleb and Tarkan were an odd couple—men from two different cultures—so in love, they were determined to overcome any obstacles. But fate had different plans for Tarkan. Shattered and unable to function a full two years after tragedy strikes, Caleb faces the hollow shell that is his life.

Adem Broussard is happy enough, as owner and chef of his restaurant on the Turkish southern coast. But a tall, American Adonis he saw once, years ago on a Turkish Blue Cruise haunts his most erotic dreams, and he hopes contracting Madame Eve's 1NightStand service for an unconventional date will help him forget.

When Caleb caves in to his friend Elle's insistence that he return to Turkey and exorcise some of the demons that haunt him, he reluctantly climbs on board a private yacht for a special 1Night Stand Blue Cruise. There he comes face to face with the man who remembers him well…and helps him heal.
My Thoughts: Heartbreaking is the word that comes to mind with this story. Caleb is broken by losing Tarkan. Heck, I was broken just watching him. Being the friend that she is, Elle forces him to go back to Turkey to face his ghosts. Caleb grudgingly goes, gets himself some sexy, sexy man-love and realizes that he has a chance to be happy again.

This time around, Elle and Emre are the fabulous secondary characters. Their relationship is strong. They've had to deal with losing Tarkan as well and watching Caleb on his slow spiral of apathy prompts them to force him to come to terms with losing the man he loved. Like I said, heartbreaking. Absolutely heartbreaking.

Tulip Princess (Turkish Delights #3)
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Lale Deniz was always prone to wildness. But when her family is ripped apart at the seams, she becomes more reckless than ever. Desperate to stop her self-destructive slide, her parents step in and send her to America to live with her brother, Emre. Just the chance, she thinks, to escape the tragedy suffusing her Istanbul home.

Andreas Michos, Greek former NFL star, the recently divorced athletic director at UNLV, floats through life seeking fulfillment. He has reason to doubt his own abilities as a natural Dom and has given up finding his perfect mate. Until he agrees to a 1Night Stand.

Set against a backdrop of ancient cultural clashes and Mediterranean family dynamics, Lale and Andreas meet in Las Vegas at the Castillo resort for their date. But it seems Madame Eve and destiny will both fail this time, unless Lale and Andreas are willing to relinquish enough control to discover what happiness can be found inside the soul of the other. Will stubbornness keep them from connecting, or can they let go long enough to heal?
My Thoughts: Ahh, Lale. Talk about someone on a self-destructive path. She's buried her anger and pain over losing her brother in a string of faceless men, alcohol and drugs. When Elle's second pregnancy results in a close call, Lale's parents send her to the US to help out. Elle's gentle machinations put her in Andreas' path in Las Vegas. Andreas is a hunky Dom whose trust has been shattered by his faithless ex. The two of them clash, they have smokin' sex, all is good.

Once again, Elle and Emre's relationship is fantastic. Emre's careless words to Lale spark an argument between Elle and Emre that felt very organic. They love each other, but there are some things that Elle isn't willing to bend on.

Overall, this series was full of memorable characters, more than a touch of heartbreak and plenty of steamy sex.

Review: Downside Girls by Jaine Fenn

Downside Girls by Jaine Fenn
Synopsis (Goodreads):
The floating city of Kesh rests above the uninhabitable planet of Vellern. For the Topsiders life is about luxury and opulence, while for those of the Undertow day to day survival takes precedence. Kesh City is a democracy by assassination, where the Angels - deadly state-sponsored killers - remove those unworthy to hold office.

When Vanna Agriet accidentally spills her drink over an Angel it could spell death, but instead it leads to a rather peculiar friendship. The downsider Geal hopes for a better life topside, only to find herself embroiled in a 'removal' by the Angel Thiera. Downside, Isha's brother Rakul brings a little black box home with him, and sets Isha on a journey that takes her to a meeting with the most powerful man in Kesh City. Larnia Mier, a talented topside musician and instructor, is injured after witnessing a removal first-hand. As her abilities diminish, new possibilities open up.
My Thoughts: The world Jaine Fenn has created of Angels, the wealthy Topsiders, and the scrabbling poor that live on the underside of the floating city is deeply compelling. The city is equal parts beautiful and deadly, painful and dark. The Angels kill when ordered to and the people accept them for what they are while fearing them at the same time.

While several of the events and characters are mentioned in multiple stories, the stories themselves can easily stand alone and be read without any prior knowledge of the Hidden Empire series. The world is highly developed and captivating, the characters are lovely and tragic. As to how the events in these stories tie into the overall series, I can't say. But I did like what I read.

Review: Beyond Shame by Kit Rocha

Beyond Shame (Beyond #1) by Kit Rocha
Synopsis (Goodreads):
All Noelle Cunningham has ever wanted is a life beyond–beyond the walls of Eden, where only the righteous are allowed to remain, and beyond her stiflingly restrictive existence as a councilman’s daughter. But only ruins lie outside the City, remnants of a society destroyed by solar storms decades earlier.

The sectors surrounding Eden house the corrupt, the criminal–men like Jasper McCray, bootlegger and cage fighter. Jas clawed his way up from nothing to stand at the right hand of Sector Four’s ruthless leader, and he’ll defend the O’Kane gang with his life. But no fight ever prepared him for the exiled City girl who falls at his feet.

Her innocence is undeniable, but so is their intense sexual attraction, and soon they’re crossing every boundary Noelle barely knew she had. But if she wants to belong to Jas, first she’ll have to open herself to the gang, to a dangerous world of sex, lust and violence. A world where passion is power, and freedom is found in submission.
My Thoughts: This doesn't happen to me often but I actually had rage when I finished this book. Yes, I was angry at the world that I didn't already have the next book in my hands. There was cursing. And I might *might* have shouted that I hated everyone on Twitter because they were talking to one another while I was in AGONY over how much I loved this book. It wasn't pretty. Then, once I got over my anger, I had book depression because nothing I owned was a good follow-up book to this one. I was a MESS the day I read this. Seriously.

Things I liked: The broken, damaged, cracked society that was created. On one side, you have the city of Eden and the moral, repressed citizens who live rigid lives. Noelle was dying a slow death in there and she didn't even know it until she was banished beyond the walls. The sexually open, sometimes violent men and women who live in the Sectors open Noelle's eyes to a world she could barely comprehend. Her awakening comes in the form of a woman who knows when to push the boundaries, a man who's dedicated to keeping his people safe, and Jasper - the one who makes her blood sing.

A tightly woven storyline with secondary characters that were fantastic, enough intrigue and danger to keep you on your toes, and sex that sizzled. This world is dark and broken, the characters are dangerous and I loved every minute of it.

Review: Silence by Becca Fitzpatrick

Silence (Hush, Hush #3) by Becca Fitzpatrick
Synopsis (Goodreads):
WHEN SILENCE IS ALL THAT'S LEFT, CAN THE TRUTH FINALLY BE HEARD?

Nora Grey can't remember the past five month of her life. After the initial shock of waking up in a cemetery and being told that she has been missing for weeks - with no one knowing where she was or who she was with - she tried to get her life back on track. Go to school, hang out with her best friend, Vee, and dodge mom's creepy new boyfriend.

But there is this voice in the back of her head, an idea that she can almost reach out and touch. Visions of angel wings and unearthly creatures that have nothing to do with the life she knows.

And this unshakable feeling that a part of her is missing.

Then Nora crosses paths with a sexy stranger, whom she feels a mesmerizing connection to. He seems to hold all the answers...and her heart. Every minute she spends with him grows more and more intense until she realizes she could be falling in love. Again.
My Thoughts: It has been many, many months since I read book 2 and I was excited to see how Patch and Nora fared in our time apart. Apparently, things have been a little rough for these two. There's the kidnapping and the memory loss and blood oaths and the whole wing thing. Ouch. Yet, they manage to find their way to one another. A few months of amnesia can't keep Patch out of Nora's head.

There were some big things that happened in this book. BIG things. There are lies told that I think are forgiven very easily. Allegiances are switched. Nora is in danger on more than one occasion. There might be a few steamy kisses. And there's one very big thing that could easily spell disaster for Nora and the others.

Overall, this book was very fun. I enjoyed seeing Nora and Patch echo some of their earliest interactions. I liked seeing Nora trying to hold it together on her first day back at school. I even liked Marcie's twisted attempts to get something from Nora that she had no claim to. I honestly have no clue where this story is going to end up (remember that big thing? Yeah. Game changer.) but I'm ready to find out.
