Review: F814 by Eve Langlais

F814 (Cyborgs: More Than Machines #2) by Eve Langlais
Synopsis (Goodreads):
She thought herself a robot, defective and unique among her kind, until he taught her how to live again

F814 exists to serve the humans until they decide to terminate her. An instinct for survival makes her fight, but when she achieves freedom, she discovers she cannot throw off the chains of habit. Everything changes when another flesh covered droid arrives, a cyborg he calls himself, who teaches her she is more than a machine

Solus hates humanity, and even though he was born as a flawed human, he strives to eradicate all traces of it from his persona—until he meets F814. Meeting and touching her releases something in him. Has him yearning for things he doesn’t understand. Makes him long for…affection

Before he can learn to love though, he must first tackle the task of reminding F814 that she is more than the sum of her mechanical parts. But of course, when dealing with an illogical thing like emotions, there is no sure plan for success.
My Thoughts: If I did #InSixWords in my reviews, this book would get a "Can't get enough of these cyborgs!" I seriously love how they think and how they respond to things just a *little* bit differently than a human would. Watching Solus try to deal with this sudden influx of emotion when he considered himself so logical and emotionless was FUN. Heck, all these cyborgs are fun. Even grumpy Aramus and his constant bitching about... everything.

However, it isn't all fun and games. The abuse Fiona was subjected to before Solus and crew found her was awful. Quite frankly, the humans who tormented her got off easily. I wanted them to linger and suffer a bit more. But Fiona did what she had to do to free herself and I can't argue that she got results. Solus... well, I like him. He's hard and stubborn and he doesn't always see the things that are right in front of him, but he has the capacity to change and that's a good thing.

The other cyborgs on the crew are fabulous. Seth and his wisecracking that hides a scary awesome skill-set. Einstein and his computers -- I'm excited for his story, btw. Very excited! Aramus and his grumping. I can't wait to see him meet the lady who turns his world upside down. That's going to be SO FUN to watch.

Love the series, love the characters, love that these cyborgs fight for what they believe in. MOAR CYBORGS, PLEASE!
