Synopsis (Goodreads):
A lady does not smoke cheroot. She does not ride astride. She does not fence or attend duels. She does not fire a pistol, and she never gambles at a gentlemen's club.

Lady Calpurnia Hartwell has always followed the rules, rules that have left her unmarried—and more than a little unsatisfied. And so she's vowed to break the rules and live the life of pleasure she's been missing.

But to dance every dance, to steal a midnight kiss—to do those things, Callie will need a willing partner. Someone who knows everything about rule-breaking. Someone like Gabriel St. John, the Marquess of Ralston—charming and devastatingly handsome, his wicked reputation matched only by his sinful smile.

If she's not careful, she'll break the most important rule of all—the one that says that pleasure-seekers should never fall hopelessly, desperately in love.
Thoughts on Nine Rules to Break When Romancing a Rake: Good gravy. Hold on, I have to run out and pick up the rest of the series now after reading this one. And EVERY OTHER BOOK BY SARAH MACLEAN because OMG!WTF?BBQPIZZA! where have you been all my life, books!

So. Callie. I'll admit to tearing up when she realized how her family saw her. To be so resigned to her place in life that her own family doesn't expect her to grab life by the metaphorical balls kinda got to me. I was cheering for her as she began pushing her boundaries. Sure, some of the things she wanted to do were reckless but she did them. And she ended up showing Gabriel a side of her he would never have seen otherwise.

And Gabriel. He's intrigued by Callie when she shows up unexpectedly. Things go from there. The moment when he realizes he likes her was outstanding. I do love watching a powerful man brought to his knees by a woman who's the perfect match for him.

Yeah, so, I'll be reading the rest of this series. And any other books I can get my hands on by Sarah MacLean. I am smitten with her characters and I want MOAR. Immediately.
