Review: Tempt Me With Darkness (Doomsday Brethren #1) by Shayla Black

Synopsis (via Goodreads):
He's an immortal knight hungering for satisfaction....

As soon as Marrok sees Olivia Gray's dark windswept hair and burning violet eyes, he's sure they've met in eons past. He's felt her soft gentle curves writhing in pleasure beneath his own hard powerful body...Morganna! For centuries, towering Marrok, once the mightiest of King Arthur's warriors, has endured a terrible curse cast upon him when he spurned the witch.

She's a modern woman about to discover ancient magic....

Olivia shares a mystical - and irresistible - connection with brooding Marrok. Soon after the sexy warrior appears in her erotic dreams, he abducts her, demanding she uncurse him. Their intense passion is more powerful - and intimate - than either of them has ever known. Olivia may be the key to unlocking the diary that will break Morganna's hold on his life. But in the wrong hands, the book also holds the power to destroy all magickind. As they search for answers, a ruthless wizard returned from exile is building an army of evil. When he discovers Marrok and Olivia have the diary, only their love - with the help of a powerful group of magical Brethren - can save them.
This is my PSA for the day!: Before I start this review, I just want to mention that this book is currently a free online read (for a few more days, at least) through Pocket After Dark.  If you haven't signed up over there, I suggest it simply because they offer entire books free to read online for a limited time.  I've now found two new authors that I wouldn't have read if not for that.  It's like visiting a library through your computer.  You know, if the library only offered two books at a time and you could only check them out during a limited window before they disappeared forever.  Okay, it's nothing like a library.  Forget I said that.  Anyway.  If you like Urban Fantasy or Romance, they're kinda coooool.

My PSA is now done.

My Thoughts: This book is fluff guys.  Pure and simple.  Fluff.  But it's hellaciously entertaining fluff with magic and hot guys who can fight like the devil himself is at his heels.  There are curses and a bad guy who has a sadistic streak a mile wide wrapped up in a wickedly appealing body.  There are good magic users who are learning how to fight and who have to put aside their differences with one another to figure out how to stop the bad guy.  Oh, and there might be some hot sex.  Maybe.  No, wait.  That's definitely there.

I liked how the legends of King Arthur, Morganna and Merlin were interwoven with the world of the magic users.  I liked the overall mythology of the magic users, how they are drawn to their mates and given the chance to bond with them for all time.  I even liked that those that issue a mating call that isn't answered are forced into a sort of magical celibacy.

Like I said, it's fluff.  But I enjoyed it immensely.
