Review: Touched by an Alien (Katherine "Kitty" Katt #1) by Gini Koch

Synopsis (Goodreads):
How can a sexy marketing manager join forces with an Alpha Centauri male in Armani to save the planet-using hairspray, a Mont Blanc pen, and rock n' roll?

Easy...

She's Touched by an Alien

Marketing manager Katherine "Kitty" Katt steps into the middle of what appears to be a domestic dispute turned ugly. And it only gets uglier when the man turns into a winged monster, straight out of a grade-Z horror movie, and goes on a killing spree. Though Kitty should probably run away, she springs into action to take the monster down.

In the middle of the chaos a handsome hunk named Jeff Martini appears, sent by the "agency" to perform crowd control. He's Kitty's kind of guy, no matter what planet he's from. And from now on, for Kitty, things are going to be sexy, dangerous, wild, and out of this world.
My Thoughts: Exiled aliens, nasty bad guys and one kick-ass chick who listens to music waaaay too loud.  Yep, I was hooked.  Honestly, Martini was a big part of the hook.  Probably the main part.  Or, maybe he was the main part whenever he and Kitty started sparking off one another.  It might have been his quips.  Or the way he saw Kitty and knew that he had to have her.  Or the way he kept telling everyone that he was going to marry Kitty minutes after meeting her.  What can I say?  Martini's pretty awesome.

The beginning of the book is almost frantic in pace.  From the moment Kitty has her first superbeing interaction the hits start coming fast and furious.  There were times when I had a tough time following along.  If Kitty and Martini weren't so darn cute together and kept me utterly hooked on them, I might have had a hard time sticking with the book in the beginning.  But Kitty and Martini were there and I kept on trucking.

And it was well worth it.

Kitty is strong and brave.  She rises to the occasion every time.  She likes loud music and and vintage rock shirts.  She's smart and she's attracted to Martini from the first time she lays eyes on him.  Her world explodes as she learns about the aliens and she deals with it surprisingly well.

This book was ridiculous amounts of fun.  Yes, the beginning had me going back and rereading a few passages just so I could make sure I was following along, but I adored the chemistry between Kitty and Martini enough to work through that.

  1. I think I had trouble keeping up with this one, too, but, like you said, it is worth it. Do you have the other books in the series?

  2. Amanda: I have the 2nd. I'm kinda excited to read it because Martini is so darn hilarious with his declarations of love and everything. :)

  3. I liked the 3rd book better than the 2nd. But they're all good. :)
