Synopsis (Goodreads):
Saving the life of someone you love should not be the worst thing you have ever done, unless you are an Angel of Death.

Disgruntled with his position in the afterlife and conflicted by his feelings toward his new client, Nathaniel Evans forgoes the rules and saves nineteen year old Juliana Crowson from being hopelessly stuck in Forge Creek. This alters Juliana’s destiny and she finds herself in a series of near death accidents.

In the mountains of Colorado, Nathaniel comforts Juliana as she struggles to understand her paranormal abilities while coping with her brother’s drug addiction. When an ill-tempered Native American Shaman teaches her the difference between ghosts and place memories, she decides she wants nothing to do with the supernatural world. Too bad she doesn’t know that Nathaniel is part of it.

Will fate bring these two together, or has Nathaniel made the biggest mistake of his afterlife?
Thoughts on Death Lies Between Us: I liked this one. It gave me some nice twists and, well, ghosts. I like ghosts. I also like relationships that look impossible from the outside. Frankly, Nathaniel's job as an Angel of Death doesn't give him a lot of wiggle room for being able to spend time with Juliana. Plus, there's that whole "he helps people move on" thing. The deck's kinda stacked against them.

I liked Nathaniel's internal crisis. I liked Juliana's acceptance of the world around her. This helps her see Nathaniel in a way that most don't. She likes the guy. For all that he's mysterious and shows up at odd moments, she feels something near him and she's willing to listen to those fluttery feelings.

Now, I wasn't as enamored of Juliana's brother. Jared is on the verge of something big and yet he expects Juliana to keep him out of trouble. And when she doesn't and bad things happen, he blames her. Yeah, I get that he has a few problems and I understand why things played out the way they did, but he's kind of a punk and he treats his sister badly and that makes me make a frowny face.

Also, dude, when your sister is so freaked out about something that she begs you TO LET HER OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, maybe she has a reason. And, I don't know, maybe you should listen to her.

Overall, this was a fun, fast read. Nathaniel had a few issues, Juliana had a few, Jared had more than a few. And I had fun reading about them.
