State of the Kelly [5]

Do you ever have one of those moments where everything just clicks for you and you think "WHY DIDN'T I DO THIS EARLIER???"

Well, I've had a couple recently.

Thing the first, I'm working on getting a bundle of the first three books in my Monstrous Tales series up and running at Amazon. I might actually go big and put it out at MORE places than just Amazon. Which is frightening, to be honest. But I'm sure I'll do just fine.

The CLICK moment came when I decided to include a short (shortshortshort), never before published Ari/Guardian interlude with it. Which, umm, means I need to write said short, never before published gem. Which, unfortunately, pushes back my (self-imposed and totally arbitrary) release date.

BUT IT FEELS RIGHT. You know. IT FEELS RIGHT.

So, I'm writing.

Thing number two was something that got in my head when the awesome Jodi Redford visited me at the end of October. We started talking about reviews and what to expect from the author standpoint. At that point in time, I had a couple of review requests dating from February that I hadn't yet read and reviewed. Our conversation prodded me into getting all my old requests cleared out and making an effort to stay on top of them from there forward.

One of my goals for 2014 with the blog is to read and review requested books within two months of receiving them. (I'm actually aiming for one month, but sometimes life gets in the way.) This means I'm being VERY picky about what I'm accepting and I'm limiting the number I approve to what I can read in a month without burning out.

Thus far in 2014, this plan of attack has worked nicely. Books are getting read. Authors are happy. My blog is scheduled out for a couple of months.

Here's to keeping this momentum!

  2. You go girl! I think the most awesome thing about switching over to audiobook reviews is the expectations are different and much more manageable for me LOL
