Synopsis (Goodreads):
He’s the bad boy she’s always wanted...

Nate “Ghost” Weller has loved Ali Morgan nearly half his life. But he’s done something so heinous he’s convinced she’ll never forgive him if she discovers the truth, so he keeps his feelings and his secrets to himself. Then she blows into town with a mother lode of bad guys on her tail and Nate can’t deny she’s in serious trouble. Unfortunately, he’s the only one who can help her.

She’s the good girl he’s kept at arm’s length...

Ali knows Nate as the most solemn, aloof man on the planet. Sadly, he’s also the sexiest. For years she’s avoided him, unable to stomach his dark scowls and brooding silences… especially when she secretly yearns for his touch. Now she must rely on him to save her from the malevolent shadows ghosting her every move. When the bullets explode, so does their passion. But can love really conquer all? Or are some things just too terrible to forgive?
Thoughts on Hell On Wheels: There are a fair number of books in this series and I keep eyeballing them and wondering if we're going to see the mysterious Dagan Zoelner again. Sure, sure, this book wasn't about him by any stretch, but I liked what I saw. And when I like something, I want to know more. And see more. And read more. So here's to hoping DZ makes an appearance again. *raises glass*

Anyway. This book is totally not about him. It's about Nate and Ali. Nate, who's carrying around buckets of guilt about the mission that got Ali's brother (and his best friend) killed. Nate, who was the strong, silent type even before that. Seriously silent. Like, Ali is convinced he hates her because he never speaks around her silent.

As it turns out, Ali is not correct with her assessment. Nate does like her. More than he thinks he should considering she's his best friend's little sister. But that pesky guilt thing (totally understood given the circumstances of that last mission) holds him back. Until Ali's life is in danger. Then he goes all possessive-Hulk on her. It's kinda awesome. (Well, except for that part where he keeps rejecting her while trying to keep her safe, but let's focus on the awesome, shall we?)

With a fair sized cast of characters (Yay! More characters we get to have books about!) and plenty of danger at every turn, this book hit the spot. If you can't love a good motorcycle chase and a man assembling a sniper rifle, what can you love?
