Synopsis (Goodreads):
Michael "Hatch" Jacobson is a hired human, working with the blood-bag drinking Daybreakers to keep a rogue faction of vamps from feasting on humans. When sexy Lola, who works at the local blood bank and has his heart in her hands, is put in their crosshairs, Hatch will risk the people closest to him to save her.
Thoughts on Breaking the Skin: This is a new-to-me author and I really liked her writing style. The world was pretty cool -- Daybreakers and Skins and shapeshifters and magic users (although the last two were only mentioned in passing-ish) -- and the situation the characters were left in feel like the start of something big. I like big. I also like explosions and heartfelt confessions. Basically, I got a lot of what I liked all in one sweet little package.

Good vamps, bad vamps, the brooding soldier-y type who work for the good guys and the lady he's smitten with. Highly enjoyable all around.
