Synopsis (Goodreads):
There are three things you need to know about Ashley Winston:Thoughts on Beauty and the Mustache: *insert gratuitous Winston Brothers fangirling here* *Err...Winston FAMILY, I guess, since I like Ashley as much as her bros* *Although Cletus is still my favorite* *Sorry, rest of the bros. Cletus is just so...Cletus*
1) She has six brothers and they all have beards, 2) She is a reader, and 3) She knows how to knit.
Former beauty queen, Ashley Winston’s preferred coping strategy is escapism. She escaped her Tennessee small town, loathsome father, and six brothers eight years ago. Now she escapes life daily via her Amazon kindle one-click addiction. However, when a family tragedy forces her to return home, Ashley can’t escape the notice of Drew Runous— local Game Warden, reclusive mountain man, bear wrestler, philosopher, and everyone’s favorite guy. Drew’s irksome philosophizing in particular makes Ashley want to run for the skyscrapers, especially since he can’t seem to keep his exasperating opinions— or his soulful poetry, steadfast support, and delightful hands— to himself. Pretty soon the girl who wanted nothing more than the escape of the big city finds she’s lost her heart in small town Tennessee.
Ashley Winston. The one who got away. Literally. She left town and hasn't looked back since. She's had little to no contact with her brothers and she despises her father. Her mother's the only thing holding her to Green Valley and her sudden illness sends Ashley back into the proverbial fold.
And...things aren't the way she remembers them. Her brothers have grown up. They're not the relentless bullies she knew before. They're supportive and there for her and it kinda throws her off kilter.
Plus, there's Drew. The good looking, quiet, always around Drew Runous. They don't necessarily get off on the best foot, but his steady presence helps Ashley as much as he drives her crazy. They verbally spar. They make eyes at one another. They both smolder more than a little bit.
Still, it takes a while for them to both be in the right place at the right time. Not going to lie, the journey to get there is well worth it.
