Synopsis (Goodreads):
October "Toby" Daye is a changeling-half human and half fae-and the only one who has earned knighthood. Now she must take on a nightmarish new challenge. Someone is stealing the children of the fae as well as mortal children, and all signs point to Blind Michael. Toby has no choice but to track the villain down-even when there are only three magical roads by which to reach Blind Michael's realm, home of the Wild Hunt-and no road may be taken more than once. If Toby cannot escape with the children, she will fall prey to the Wild Hunt and Blind Michael's inescapable power.
Thoughts on An Artificial Night: I feel a bit shell-shocked after this book. Things were happening so fast, I think I forgot how to breathe. *stares at everyone* Seriously. Toby just barrels from one incident to the next without pause. THE LADY NEEDS TO LEARN SOME RESTRAINT.

Weirdly, I think she is. Probably. Even though she moving forward with her life after spending fourteen years as a fish, I feel like she was in recovery mode up to this book. Heck, even during this book. Until someone slapped her upside the head and pointed out that she has a death wish, she does the most insane things. Like going to the heart of the Wild Hunt multiple times. I get why she had to try, but she had a flagrant disregard for her own safety time and time again.

But I felt like by the time we got to the end of this book she was finally reaching the point where she sees the light. Maybe. She's realizing she's not an island and she has people who care about her. Lots of people. Her life is never going to be uncomplicated or easy (no chance of that!), but she has a place where she fits and people who will stand beside her through almost anything.

Might I just say...Hello, Tybalt. You mysterious cat-king, you. I'm looking forward to seeing more of this wily man down the road. Sure, Toby and Tybalt will probably be fighting and/or snarking at each other, but that's the beauty of them.

All right. The next book is waiting for me.
