Synopsis (Goodreads):
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good love (or lust) at first sight story, but the fact she was carrying evidence that could potentially incriminate two planetary governments didn't seem to affect her. Sure, she ran, but that seemed like it was more because of the attack on the embassy than anything.
That said, I do like a good 'bad guy turns good' story. Bane wasn't ever necessarily a bad guy in the strictest sense of the word, but he'd been locked up for a crime he didn't commit and that has to cause some issues for a dude.
Elena pretty much flowed with whatever punches came in her direction. She followed Bane. She ran when appropriate. I just wanted a little more depth to both her character and Bane's.

Synopsis (Goodreads):
Elena, an Earth woman on a diplomatic mission to Kosmora, stumbles upon an explosive secret that threatens to derail the historic treaty. She’s determined to expose the truth, but her dedication is attracting the wrong attention.Thoughts on Bane: I've enjoyed Mira Maxwell's other books, but this one felt thin, for lack of a better word. Like, I never got the sense that prison had adversely affected Bane for all he'd been locked up for the past 10 years. Elena didn't seem like she was completely aware of the danger she'd put herself in with the information she found while snooping. She trusted Bane on sight and entered into a relationship with him not long after.
The Kosmorans are desperate to silence her, and they have the perfect man for the job. Bane, a lethal Kosmoran bounty hunter, hasn’t seen daylight in years. Convicted of an unspeakable crime, he’s confined to a high-security prison for with no hope of release. Until now.
His task is simple. Silence the Earthling and receive his freedom. It’s not a problem – until he meets her. Unexpected passion blossoms between Elena and Bane. How can he finish the job when all he wants is to keep her for himself?
Bane is a full length, stand-alone novel, full of steamy romance and a guaranteed happily ever after.
