Synopsis (Goodreads):
A lonely widow. A determined kraken. An attraction they can’t resist.

Long ago, the sea took Kathryn’s husband. She never thought it would give anything back. But now that her children are grown with little ones of their own, she finds her eyes drawn more and more to those restless waters—and she sees part of herself reflected in them. Something out there calls to her.

She yearns to discover what it is.

What she didn’t expect was the attention of a kraken with golden eyes, sculpted muscles, and a heated stare that makes her melt. Ector reawakens a passion in Kathryn she’d thought long gone. When he accompanies her on her journey into the unknown, she can’t help but wonder if what she wanted—and needed—is right in front of her.
Thoughts on Lover from the Waves: I had it in my head that book 6 was the end of this series, so this was like a perfect little epilogue that left me incredibly pleased with the romance and deeply happy with the direction the humans and kraken are headed in. Seriously. It was a little treat that perfectly capped the overall story off and left me satisfied with how it all ended.

Kathryn and Ector have a slow, sweet romance. They're both older and they're wondering what more they have to offer their children and the younglings they've guided. Kathryn wants to find herself again after being a wife and widow and mother and grandmother. Ector sees that the young kraken he helped shape have grown beyond him and created something incredible with their relationships with their human mates.

Neither of them are necessarily looking for love, but it finds them all the same. It probably helps that they're alone on a little trip up the coast and can explore their feelings (physically and otherwise) without having prying eyes watching.

Along with Kathryn and Ector's romance, we also got a glimpse into another couple that weathered a relationship during the kraken uprising all those years before. Honestly, their story got to me. A human/kraken pairing back when things were bad seems like a recipe for disaster, but it turned out to be pretty epic.

Again, this book satisfied on so many levels. We got to see an older couple find love and...I don't know how to put it. It was just such a hopefully positive ending to the series as a whole it makes me incredibly happy. *thumbs up*
