Synopsis (Goodreads):
He’s tall, quiet, and evades her at every turn…

Virologist Kemina Perez didn’t think to be at the center of a fierce alien’s fight to save his species. But now she is, and it’s put her on an interesting path—one filled by a dark Askari with beautiful green eyes and a reserve that makes her have to corner him just to get him to talk to her. There’s something special about Jadar, though; she can’t quite put her finger on it. When Mina does, turns out she’ll span worlds and more just to stay by his side.
***
Jadar’s seen enough of Aderus’s trials with Tori to know he’d rather keep his distance when it comes to their new allies. Except there’s one who refuses to leave him be…even if he can’t deny the appeal of her springing tresses and inquisitive mind. To wage a combined war, they’ll have to work together, and in doing so, help him kindle a part of himself he’s never really forgotten.
Thoughts on Spanning Worlds: Heh. Jadar might do his best to avoid Mina (for REASONS!), but she is pretty dogged in seeking him out. While these two do take a while before they connect, their coming together did go a little smoother than Tori and Aderus's did. You know, because Tori is there to dispense the wisdom she's learned to Mina which helps A LOT when it comes to deciphering Askari social cues.

But before we get to the coming together, we get to see these two highly intelligent individuals working together to try to give the Askari and humans and edge in taking back Askara. They dance around one another while figuring things out and THINGS HAPPEN.

Part of the reason things happen is because (a) Tori and Aderus have helped pave the way for interspecies coupling and (b) Jadar isn't like most of the other Askari. Which works when it comes to Mina and he coming together, tbh.

A little danger, a little romance, some new abilities that help immensely when it comes time to fight the enemy, and the potential for a whole lot more of Askari/human couples in the future. Am I excited about this? Indeed I am.
