Synopsis (Goodreads):

Newly indoctrinated witch, Defiance Dayne discovers there’s more to life after forty than she'd ever imagined possible. She decides she has three things to do before she can die. Find out who killed her beloved grandmother, teach her BFF the finer points of spellcasting before she blows up the world, and figure out how serious her relationship with the Adonis living in her basement really is. None of that will matter, however, if she can’t figure out how to foil the supernatural assassin who’s been sent for her. Until then, it’s business—and hopefully romance—as usual. Now if she can only figure out how to tame a lacuna wolf.

Thoughts on Beguiled: Things are coming to a head with Defiance's powers (and her romantic life) and we're getting more than a few answers. We're also left with a few new questions, but that's another story for another day. Literally. Since, you know, this isn't the end of the line.

But let's talk about Defiance. Her powers are expanding by leaps and bounds. Or...maybe it's more like her ability to control said powers is coming into its own and she's able to do the things she sets out to do. She's also still not 100% confident in those abilities. Which means she second guesses herself and does some things one (such as Roane) might consider foolish because she doesn't understand the full depth of what she's capable of.

That said, her gang of misfits has her back. They're working together to try figure out who poisoned her grandmother. And somehow SOMEHOW things just keep getting more and more complicated as fresh batches of poison keep appearing in the house. As they work to unravel the whos and hows of that situation, Defiance has to deal with a hunter, a large group of reverential witches, and the thing in the attic.

While I'm thrilled with the direction things are going, I feel like there's A LOT more we need to discover before Defiance and her friends can slow down and live their HEAs. A few startling revelations and one whopper of an event (an exciting event, mind you!) has me itching to see what's next for the charmling and her extended family.
