Synopsis (Goodreads):
What does a retired vampire hunter do with the rest of her life?

That’s a question Bess Walker-James is desperately trying to figure out. Having recently been made redundant, she holes up at her family home in Maine to do some serious thinking about what comes next.

Unfortunately, she has no idea.

Until her handsome next-door neighbor shows up. Turns out, Callum McCarthy needs more help than just finding his missing cat. Bess decides to assist him. What else has she got to do? But little does she know he’s a lot more than he seems.

Of course, so is she…
Thoughts on Code Name: Mockingbird: When all you know is vampire hunting, what do you do when you suddenly find yourself retired? Well, if you're Bess, you throw caution to the wind and end up playing protector to a vampire. Which is pretty much the exact opposite of what her previous job entailed. But so it goes. Sometimes you need to make big life changes to figure things out.

A vampire, a cat, and a woman who needs a little direction. Bess might not have been trained to be a vampire protector, but she has smarts and skills and she's a tiny bit invested in keeping Callum alive. Tiny bit. Seeing as how he's the first thing she's been interested in since her abrupt dismissal. Err, sorry. Her early retirement.

Regardless, Bess steps in and does what she's asked to do and it turns out she doesn't mind it one bit that her new employer is a vamp. *thumbs up*
