Synopsis (Goodreads):
Jules aka "World's most annoying laugher"Thoughts on We'll Never Have Paris: Oh man. Two people who don't start off on the best foot and who seem to rub each other wrong at every turn get stuck in an elevator on Christmas Eve and THINGS HAPPEN.
It's Christmas Eve, one of my last nights in Paris, and I get stuck in a tiny elevator with the insufferable, grumpy Welshman from downstairs. I'm wearing nothing but my skimpy PJs and totally inappropriate spike heels. Oh, and the light's gone out.
What could possibly go wrong?
Colin aka "Ebenezer McGrumpypants"
She's the neighbor from hell. Loud, brash, and American, with the body of a pin-up and the laugh of a wild hyena. My only wish is that she'll move out and be done with Paris forever. Fate, apparently, has other ideas because tonight of all nights, when the city's shut down and half the population's gone, who should I get stuck with in what has to be Paris's tiniest lift? You guessed it. Her.
Only, now that we've gotten up close and personal, everything's changed. Suddenly, the problem isn't getting rid of her anymore. It's finding a way to keep her...forever.
But, wait. Let's back up a bit. Despite Colin's mental characterization of her as an annoying American, Jules isn't terrible. She tries to be considerate of her grumpy neighbor and their paper-thin walls (and ceilings), but they have opposite schedules and, well, sound carries. And while Colin is definitely grumpy, there's a surprisingly soft center to him. Sure, he grumps and growls and isn't the kindest person around, but he has his reasons.
It takes a little coaxing and one encounter in a broken elevator for things to start smoothing out between them. Which is to say, their elevator encounter opens a door, but these two chuckleheads still have to be brave enough to walk through it.
Some questionable cold weather clothing choices, a dark elevator, a couple of confessions, steamy kisses, steamy other moments a whole lot of sparks, a man who is tangled up in his grief and guilt, and a lady who realizes that she doesn't want to keep running now that she's found her person. Who knew that a little forced proximity in an elevator could be so sexy???
