Synopsis (Goodreads):
The leader of the fierce Reigh people expires during an intergalactic summit, putting 30 million colonists' lives and livelihoods in jeopardy. When the new heir to the Reigh throne, Lord Nagrad, demands restitution, the phrase "'a life for a life" turns the intergalactic calamity into an arranged marriage contract between Lord Nagrad and sharply intelligent diplomatic analyst Deirdre Lebed... and the negotiation of terms becomes anything but formal!
Thoughts on A Mere Formality: Okay. The stakes are high going into this summit and when an unfortunate occurrence ends in an unexpected death, things take a turn. I mean, the stakes are still high and everything, but suddenly Deirdre is in the middle of negotiations that are...maybe a little naughty? Or more than a little, I guess. Let's just say that Deirdre has to adjust to this change on the fly, uhh, yeah.

I can't lie, I liked this story. Lord Nagrad was caught between duty to his people and negotiating a marriage with someone he's intrigued by (and was more than willing to commit himself to) and there were HOOPS he had to jump through to give Deirdre and her people time to get things in order. To be fair, Lord Nagrad kind of set himself up for those hoops, but it turned out a-okay in the end.

Short, naughty (without any actual naughtiness), and fun. *thumbs up*
