Review: Sleeping Beauty: Vampire Slayer (Twisted Tales #2) by Maureen McGowan

Synopsis (via Goodreads):
In this thrilling story full of adventure and romance, Sleeping Beauty is more than just a lonely princess waiting for her prince—she's a brave, tenacious girl who never backs down from a challenge. With vampire-slaying talents that she practices in secret, Sleeping Beauty puts her courage to the test in the dark of night, fighting evil as she searches for a way to break the spell that has cut her off from her family. In a special twist, readers have the opportunity to make key decisions for Sleeping Beauty and decide where she goes next—but no matter the choice; the result is a story unlike any fairy tale you've ever read!
My Thoughts: This book was a little darker than Cinderella: Ninja Warrior and I, for one, thought it worked very nicely.  In fact, there were things that happened to poor Lucette that made me go like this: O_o  For all you parents out there, generally speaking it's not appropriate parental behavior to lock your child in a tower.  In fact, the only situation in which I could advocate doing so would be if the Zombie Apocalypse was nigh and you were locked in there with them fending off the slavering horde.  *nods*

Overall, this book moved quickly, the characters were fun and full of action, and the bad guy was pretty darn nasty.  I always enjoy a bad guy who's unrepentantly bad.  One who chose their path and sticks to it despite the bodies piling up around them.  I got that here.

A fun twist on the Sleeping Beauty myth that lets our heroine be strong and fight her own battles.
