Synopsis (Goodreads):
When Hollywood moguls and stars want privacy, they head to an idyllic small town on the coast, where the exclusive Burning Cove Hotel caters to their every need. It’s where reporter Irene Glasson finds herself staring down at a beautiful actress at the bottom of a pool…

The dead woman had a red-hot secret about up-and-coming leading man Nick Tremayne, a scoop that Irene couldn’t resist—especially since she’s just a rookie at a third-rate gossip rag. But now Irene’s investigation into the drowning threatens to tear down the wall of illusion that is so deftly built around the famous actor, and there are powerful men willing to do anything to protect their investment.

Seeking the truth, Irene finds herself drawn to a master of deception. Oliver Ward was once a world-famous magician—until he was mysteriously injured during his last performance. Now the owner of the Burning Cove Hotel, he can’t let scandal threaten his livelihood, even if it means trusting Irene, a woman who seems to have appeared in Los Angeles out of nowhere four months ago…

With Oliver’s help, Irene soon learns that the glamorous paradise of Burning Cove hides dark and dangerous secrets. And that the past—always just out of sight—could drag them both under…
Thoughts on The Girl Who Knew Too Much: I decided to dip my toes into the goings on at Burning Cove and HOO-BOY it didn't disappoint. We got a suspicious death and misdirection and a wild crew of characters who all seem to have pasts they're trying to escape.

First up is Irene. She reinvented herself after the murder of her former employer and she's trying to lay low as she works toward rebuilding her life. Being a rookie reporter for a small paper seems like a good way to do just that, except Irene is one of those determined types who can't walk away from an injustice even if it puts her in danger.

So she investigates a suspicious death because she believes it's linked to another death and things sort of blow up from there. Not literally.

Meanwhile, Oliver has reinvented himself as the owner of an exclusive resort after his last failed performance as a magician. While he's leery of the press in general (both for himself and for his guests), he's drawn to Irene. And he's VERY determined to both make sure she's safe and figured out if the death on his property was accidental or a case of murder.

A dead body or two, a little misdirection and subterfuge, an entitled actor, more than a few shadowy pasts, and two people who are determined to make things work even in the middle of a dangerous situation. Good times!
