Thoughts on No Bones About It: No joke, Lexi's little black cloud ALWAYS keeps things interesting. Even when she's trying to avoid it (and she pretty consistently tries to avoid it), it just zips in and does its thing. Which means there's generally a lot of chaos and Lexi's big brain sorting that chaos into manageable piles. YESSS!

This time around, Lexi is with her female friends on a bachelorette trip without her significant other and she's working on how to have fun. And socialize. But mostly she's working on the fun part. That said, Lexi's idea of fun is using her big brain to solve problems. So when a doggo with unusual intelligence chooses her as their person on one of their outings, Lexi does what she does best. Which means she starts putting together little bits of information so she can see the big picture.

Although she's a little leery of any animal choosing her, she's also not heartless and soon she and her friends are trying to figure out what to do with this sweet girl while on vacation. Let's just say it involves pretending to be pregnant, facing off against a man who is VERY determined to get that sweet doggo back, and maybe taking down a company that is doing more than a few unethical things.

Lexi's doing her thing, having her type of fun, and making the world a safer place one hack at a time.

Thoughts on Enter the Nightmare: We're back on Harmony and Alice is in a bit of a pickle. Dubbed the Deranged Bride by the media, Alice doesn't remember getting married OR killing her husband, but she spent several months in an asylum so she knows SOMETHING happened. Now she's back at the hotel where her life was thrown into turmoil ten months before and things are getting even more complicated.

To start with, someone's trying to kidnap her. There's also a dead body in the bathroom and a man claiming he's there's to rescue her. Alice isn't sure she can trust Owen March, but she's sort of out of options.

On Owen's end, he's not a fan of being lied to (or used) and he's determined to help Alice after outing her to some very bad people. Suggesting a marriage of convenience seems like a logical way to protect her from the unscrupulous business man. And if he maybe sort of might have some smitten feelings after all the research he did on her, he'll totally keep that to himself. Totally.

With Alice's dashing dust bunny, these two work on figuring out why someone has it out for her. No lie, the Hotel of Dreams is sort of a bad place for Alice to keep returning to, but it has answers (probably) and Alice and Owen are determined to uncover whatever they need to uncover to keep Alice safe. *thumbs up* all around.

Thoughts on No Matter the Cost: We're back with the second of the ex-assassins and Bastian definitely has his hands full with Lark. Her past is as dark and dangerous as his and she's determined to kill him for killing her mentor. Look, theirs is a complicated relationship with lots of fighting and knives.

To say that Bastian has his hands full with Lark might be an understatement. She keeps trying to kill him and he needs to explain why he did what he did. But explaining will hurt Lark and he doesn't really want to do that. So they're caught in this push and pull against one another, but Bastian knows he has to step up and give Lark the explanations she deserves.

As Lark grapples with the bombshell Bastian dropped on her, she also has this inconvenient (at least in her eyes) attraction to the sexy ex-assassin. Plus, there's this serial killer who just might be targeting her for reasons that tie back in to why she had been gunning for Bastian in the first place.

Yeah, these two are complicated.

The fight. They have sexy times. Lark has a tough time realizing she can rely on anyone. Bastian is a little bossy. These two plus Bastian's crew of deadly friends work to make sure no one else will die at the hands of the person targeting Lark. I must say I like these deadly men and the women who fall for them. PLUS! We got to see a familiar face or two (Team 52!) and I always enjoy that!

Thoughts on Take a Hike: The final Pax sister is up and Charlie is a firecracker. She has little to no filter, a casual disregard for personal safety, and a bit of a thing for the grumpy firefighter whose face seems to be permanently etched in a scowl. Yup, Kieran absolutely does it for her. From his head to his toes (and everything in between) to his irritated grunts and near-snarls, he's a treat to Charlie's senses.

While the reason Charlie and Felicity (and Bennett) are technically in Simpson is to catch Jane and make sure she makes her court appearance so the sisters don't lose their house, they're soon caught up in the goings on of Simpson. As in, they're welcomed (with open arms) into the Simpson Murder Club. Which is not a club that commits murders, but one that SOLVES them. Just so we're clear.

One of the murders they need to solve is one that has sexy firefighter Kieran as a person of interest. And as long as they're helping him clear his name, he might as well help them spring their trap to draw their mother out. I mean, fair's fair, RIGHT? Also, Kieran is sort of drawn to Charlie. She's surprisingly direct, isn't put off by his angry face, and makes him feeeeeeel things. Frankly these two are ADORABLE together from beginning to end.

With Jane's court date looming, a murder to solve, a militia to infiltrate (sort of), and treasure hunters to thwart, there's a lot going on here. As an added bonus, we get to spend time with the good folk of Simpson and see what Lou, Rory, Elle, Daisy and their special someones have been up to since their books. GOOD TIMES!

Thoughts on Saving Mr. Norcross: We're back with Vander and Brynn and HOO-BOY does Brynn have her work cut out for her as she tries to get Vander to unwind. I mean, he's already wound tight (and she loves him for that) so throwing her pregnancy into the mix has him on the sort of edge neither of them imagined. Let's just say Vander deals with things by internalizing A LOT and Brynn needs to get it through his extremely protective skull that together they have the skills to keep themselves and their baby safe from anyone who might be gunning for them.

Oh, yeah. There might be someone gunning for them. Well, for Vander, really. Frankly, Brynn WILL NOT put up with someone trying to hurt her man. No matter how competent (and terrifying) he is, she's willing to burn down the world to get him out of a dangerous situation.

So when Vander and Rhys get nabbed, Brynn formulates a plan, gathers allies (after maybe threatening them a little), puts Haven on coms, straps on some body armor, and sets out to save them. MEANWHILE, Vander absolutely knows that Brynn is going to do whatever she needs to do to get him out of this situation, so he's determined to get himself and his brother out before she has to put herself in danger.

A local tough who didn't do his homework (because I really don't think he would have grabbed Vander if he'd known who he was), an incursion into an enemy stronghold, a little explosion, a whole lot of heat (of the sexy variety), and two people who will absolutely run straight through anyone or thing that tries to keep them apart. GOOD TIMES all around!

Thoughts on Sacred Sins: This is an older NR book and I kinda think I might have read it before, but it was long enough ago that I didn't remember the whos and whys of the investigation. In other words, it's like a new book all over again for me.

So. Ben isn't a fan of psychiatrists (for reasons), but he's extremely attracted to Tess when she's brought in to consult on his most recent case. Given that the killings of said case are front page news, her insights are needed to help build a profile on the killer. On Tess's end, she tolerates Ben's dislike of her profession because she can see it stems from past experiences. However, she only lets him get away with so much and she pushes back when he crosses any of her lines.

As these two start deepening their connection, the killer is developing his own connection to Tess. Which means Tess is in danger, but it's also possible they can use that connection to help catch him.

A couple murders, a cuddly bear of a partner, some smokin' hot kisses, a detective who fights falling for his honey, and a lady who gives her all in everything. *thumbs up*

As an aside that has nothing to do with the actual plot of the book, the smoking these characters engaged in. I mean, I get that this is an older book and smoking was a thing back then, but there's just so much of it. Not a fan of that, but I completely understand that it was prevalent back in the day and it ultimately doesn't take away from the story, it's just something I noticed because YUCK.

Thoughts on River's End: This is a reread for me, but I read it long enough ago that I genuinely couldn't remember anything more than snapshots. Namely, Detective Brady finding Olivia hiding with her stuffed animals. In other words, it was like a whole new book for me.

So. A terrible crime happens to a shining star and the only witness is her young daughter. Olivia is whisked away by her mother's family after her mother's death and shielded as best she can be from the media frenzy that goes along with a movie star being murdered. She grows up safe and loved and protected, but the idea that she is the the product of a victim and a murderer sits heavy on her. And she vows that she'll never give anybody the type of power over her that her mother gave her father.

Except there's a boy who became a man. The son of the detective who investigated her mother's death. He's never forgotten how that case affected his father and Olivia's lived in a little space in his head for years. As had the details of the murder. So when Olivia's convicted father reaches out to him to (finally) tell his side of the story, he knows he has to do it.

Which means getting in touch with Olivia. Who doesn't want anything to do with him or his book thanks to a mistake he made years ago. (Look, these two have baggage. It's complicated, but not insurmountable.)

A terrible crime, family bonds, the drive to find the truth, a man who's determined to see things through to the end, and a woman who has to deal with the past before she can have a future. A solid NR book I enjoyed reading again.

Thoughts on The Shop on Hidden Lane: A new set of families have been introduced into the psychic shenanigans and coverups swirling around the Bluestone Project and the Harpers and Wells have HISTORY. Fortunately for everyone, that history is exactly what's needed to take care of business.

But first! Sophy and Luke. She can read paranormal energy (amongst other things) and he's sporting some serious self-doubt thanks to a relationship gone sour. To be fair, there were extenuating circumstances as to why that relationship turned. Also to be fair, Sophy's approach to relationships doesn't leave her with a lot of second dates. These two aren't thrilled to be working together, but the nature of what they're dealing with doesn't leave them with any other choices.

So they start looking into the murder and disappearance of their respective family members and soon they're knee-deep in secrets that were supposed to remain buried. They also have to pretend to be a couple as they follow the clues and pretending to be a couple isn't nearly as difficult as either thought it would be. Sure, they both have a few hang-ups and some issues they need to deal with on a personal level, but WHO DOESN'T??

A little betrayal, a very reluctant collaboration (that turns not-so-reluctant), a magnificent doggo, secrets, muses, a dangerous location, and a couple (eventually) who have to let go of their fears if they hope to save themselves and their family members. *thumbs up* all around.

Thoughts on No Time Off: Lexi and Slash can't shake the excitement (read: danger) that follows them wherever they go. Their wedding is something talked about in hushed tones (thanks to the exploding drones and high profile guest list) and they are DETERMINED to have a romantic and restful honeymoon.

You know, if they can keep Lexi's little black cloud battened down for a few weeks.

HA. The joke's on them with that one. Slash has fully accepted Lexi's penchant for falling into dangerous situations, but this one isn't her fault. They left the destination of their honeymoon up to chance and somehow they still found themselves in the middle of a political coup that had them dealing with some loose ends from a previous little black cloud encounter. In other words, these two were once again forced to apply their big brains to a situation to make sure it didn't escalate into something that could have long-term, global implications.

On a little island nation, there's a political coup taking place. Lexi and Slash are in the right place at the right time to stop the prime minister from being assassinated and things moved forward from there. Suddenly they're on the run, engaging in some potentially dangerous surveillance, and roping their crew back in the States to help them stop this situation before it reaches a tipping point there's no coming back from.

To say Lexi and Slash have an exciting honeymoon might be understating things. That said, I don't know if being hunted and declared enemies of the state were exactly what they were planning when they booked this trip. But they're both smart and wily and they're not going to let a little thing like a political crew stop them from enjoying the start of their life together. *thumbs up*

Thoughts on Shattering Dawn: The last of the LNF women are up and Amelia is NOT having an easy time of things. To be fair, the others didn't have an easy time either, so this is sort of par for the course for them. No matter! It's Amelia's turn to shine and she's ready for it.

Her first order of business is to hire a PI who might possibly understand what she's dealing with since his name also appeared on the list that caused their lives to spiral into the direction it's currently in. Gideon, however, isn't quite as open-minded as Amelia hoped. In fact, he's downright skeptical that ANY of claims are what she thinks they are. Then he stops her from being kidnapped and comes to the realization that she might not be as paranoid as he thought.

Soon they're road tripping through the desert to look for clues about Amelia's lost night and who would want her bad enough to try to snatch her. And the desert ain't got nothing on them because these two are HOT for one another. Although they both try to deny it. Plus, Gideon has a little insight on what it's like to deal with a powerful ability and he's able to give her a few pointers. By that same token, Amelia has some ideas on how Gideon's ability can be used in different ways and it kind of makes them unstoppable.

A solid ending for the mystery surrounding the LNF ladies and what happened to them. We got Sweetwaters and closure and mentions of others who had to deal with unexpected abilities after getting a psychic jumpstart (Fogg Lake, YES!). *thumbs up* all around!

Thoughts on It Takes a Psychic: Grimly riding the fame that came with her unexpected experience in the Underworld, Leona is realistic enough to know this fame will likely end as soon as the next discovery is announced. So she puts up with the attention begrudgingly and authenticates as needed.

What she doesn't expect at the most recent engagement she's been asked to authenticate at is Oliver. He's unobtrusive and unremarkable on the surface, but Leona absolutely knows there's more to him than he's showing. When he steps in to help her out after she stumbles over a dead body, she goes with the flow. Sure, she might not entirely trust him, but she doesn't have a whole lot of other options once her job lets her go and all signs seem to point to them heading in the same investigative direction.

On Oliver's end, it throws him when Leona sees through his unassuming, regular guy disguise. Or maybe I should say it intrigues him. When the stars aligns and they need to head to the same place (for seemingly different reasons), he jumps at the chance to spend more time with her. Probably not surprising anyone, their investigations stir up danger that has the two of them relying on one another to survive.

A voice from beyond, family ties, a small town with a whole lot of secrets, a man who knows a good partner when he sees her, and a lady who isn't afraid of a man with a whole lot of talent. MAN, I like spending time on Harmony!

Thoughts on People in Glass Houses: Okay. So Molly's looking for her sister and her only lead is Joshua who is a HOT mess when she finds him. Like, so hot. Like, wearing stolen scrubs from the psychiatric hospital hot. The guy has also had his senses almost fried and he's dealing with that. (For the record, his senses aren't actually fried, he's just in deep recovery mode and questioning a lot of his current life choices.)

Anywho. Molly might not be enamored of Joshua's current look (scrubs are an acquired taste), but she needs him. Badly. And her talent just might be the thing he needs to get himself back on track. So while their first encounter isn't the greatest, Molly impresses Joshua. Because (a) she can handle the hot current in his house and (b) she's able to realign his senses so he doesn't feel like he's completely off the rails.

As an added bonus, not only does Molly have the ability to unfry his ability, she also sparks off him something fierce. She might not be looking for any type of long-term relationship, but Joshua intrigues her the way no one else has. And she intrigues him. 

A little danger in the tunnels, a sisterly bond that's deeper than blood, a mischievous dust bunny, plenty of untrustworthy characters, a man who's had his world upended, and a lady who isn't about to leave a task unfinished. *thumbs up*

Thoughts on Hidden Nature: It's always a treat to dive into a NR book with the family ties and suspenseful happenings. Sloan is a strong woman who's found her place in the world. She has plans for her future and a family who fully supports her. Then she gets shot and is forced to slow down to get healed up and...her priorities shift. Well, that's not exactly right. Her plans for her future are still in place, she just has to recalibrate her mindset to see that maybe she can take a different path to get where she wants to be.

But before she can take any new paths, she needs to get back into fighting shape. Which isn't necessarily difficult once she sets down a plan, but it takes time. With nothing but said time on her hands for a while, Sloan begins following the disappearance of a local woman. And she begins making connections. She's not officially on the case, mind you, but a LEO can't turn their brains off even when they're recuperating and maybe following the scant clues gives her a reason to take her mind off the slowness (which isn't actually slow, mind you) of her healing.

Meanwhile, the Littlefield brothers have moved into town and are settling in and there are SPARKS between Sloan and Nash. Okay, maybe those parks didn't happen right away (THAT happened between Sloan's sister and Nash's brother), but there's something there and the more time Sloan and Nash spend together, the more sparky they become.

A little danger, a twisted romance, family, chemistry, a man who is breaking free of expectations to figure out what he wants out of life, and a lady who has to reclaim her bearings after an unexpected injury. *thumbs up*

Thoughts on The Scenic Route: The bounty hunting Pax sisters are in a bit of a pickle. Their mom has skipped town (maybe) with some jewelry that isn't hers (probably) and somehow the sisters' house has been put up as collateral for her bail (not cool). The good news? As bounty hunters, the sisters have the tools and the skills to hunt her down. The bad news? Their mom has more than a few tricks up her sleeve and has managed to keep a step or two ahead of the sisters.

Enter Bennett Green, PI and all around good guy. Sure, circumstances might have him looking a bit like a stalker, but Bennett really is a sweetheart. He's also a little (tiny) bit socially awkward, so he and Felicity have a few interesting interactions before she realizes he's an a-okay guy. That said, Felicity also felt pretty comfortable with him even when she thought he WAS stalking her, so it didn't take long before these two were teaming up in more ways than one.

Meanwhile, what started as a way to get Bennett off their tails as they attempted to hunt down their mom without his interference, soon turned into an actual bounty hunt with more than a little danger. One road trip to Vegas and a little case of marriage later and a these are realizing there's a definite plus side to having someone watching your back.

I must say, I'm enjoying these firecracker sisters finding their special someones. Plus, revisiting Simpson and crossing paths with a few familiar faces is FUN!

Thoughts on The Hero She Loves: We met Parker in Hollis and Sawyer's book and he was VERY MUCH one of Vander's men. Which is to say he was gloriously capable and pretty much a loner. You know, until he meets his person. Then he just might be okay with having someone at his side.

In Parker's case, his someone is US Marshall Sheridan. Jenna is driven and gloriously capable as well. She's also observant and dogged. Which means she doesn't give up on people when they cross her path. As it turns out, that goes for both ex-military men and fugitives. Sure, she and Parker might have only crossed paths initially because she needed his help in hunting down a dangerous killer, but she saw all the layers hidden under Parker's grouchy exterior and it didn't take long before she was trying to convince herself that a relationship with the big guy was probably a bad idea since they lived two very different lives in two very different parts of the country. To be fair, she didn't do well convincing herself of any of that.

A dangerous killer with the skill to disappear if given the chance, a chase that throws two people together in the best way, a man who knows a good partner when he meets her (although he fights that partnership for a while), and a lady who gives everything she's involved in 100%. Well, except her last relationship. But good riddance to that guy, amirite?!?!

Thoughts on The Hero She Deserves: HOO-BOY. Hollis and Sawyer have more sparks than they almost know what to do with. Just kidding, Sawyer knows what to do with them and he's more than happy to show Hollis everything and anything he can.

But before we get to that point, Sawyer and Hollis have to MEET. And by that I mean he finds her nekkid trying to get the smoke alarm to stop going off. AS ONE DOES. While Sawyer definitely likes what he sees in that first meeting, it's her kindness and intelligence that reels him in. Also, his fiercely protective streak is activated once he realizes she's laying low because she thinks she's being stalked. Sort of. It's complicated.

On Hollis's end, she's running on fumes and worries that no one will believe her when she tells them about what she's dealing with. But Sawyer does believe her and his strength and competence (plus how he doesn't treat her like a superstar) ticks all her boxes and it isn't long before these two are kicking their relationship up a notch.

A little danger, a superstar trying to be incognito, a visit by some of the Norcross crew, a man who knows a good thing when he meets her, and a lady who finds her perfect match while on the run. *thumbs up*

Thoughts on Claim:  Beau is the last of the Fury brothers to fall and the man falls HARD. Sure, he falls and then fights it for all sorts of reasons he probably considers noble, but the point is that he knows Bell is his special someone from the start. Well, mostly from the start. Let's just say that he can't stop thinking about her after their memorable night together and having her walk into his gym is possibly the best thing that ever happened to him.

On Bell's end, she's a lady on the edge. She's on the run from a very bad man and her only thought is to keep those around her safe. Which means staying on the move and not making any attachments. While she was able to walk away from Beau after their one night together, she's not able to walk away (although she kind of tries) once they meet again. Mostly because Beau refuses to let her face what she's facing on her own.

Let's face it, with the combined might of the Fury family (both the brothers and their significant others), the bad guy doesn't stand a chance. But he does make life miserable for Bell before he gets his just desserts.

A solid ending to an excellent series. We got to see the brothers in action, catch up with a few familiar (billionaire) faces, and watch Beau and Bell find their happily ever after. GOOD STUFF ALL AROUND!
