Review: Master of the Mountain by Cherise Sinclair

Master of the Mountain (Mountain Masters #1) by Cherise Sinclair
Synopsis (Goodreads)
When Rebecca's boyfriend talks her into vacationing at a mountain lodge with his swing club, she quickly learns she's not cut out for playing musical beds. Now she has nowhere to sleep. Logan, the lodge owner, finds her freezing on the porch. After hauling her inside, he warms her in his own bed, and there the experienced Dom discovers that Rebecca might not be a swinger...but she is definitely a submissive.

Rebecca knows that no one can love her plump, scarred body. To her shock, lodge owner Logan not only disagrees, but ties her up and shows her just how much he enjoys her curves. Under his skilled hands, Rebecca not only loses her inhibitions, but also her heart.

Damaged from the war, Logan considers himself too dangerous to be around the enticing little sub. He sends her away for her own safety, not realizing she believes she has once again been rejected because of her size. As Logan's mountains echo with her voice long after she's gone, he realizes she's taken his heart with her. But when he arrives in the city to reclaim her, Rebecca's phone has been disconnected and her apartment is empty...

Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, BDSM theme and content, exhibitionism.
My Thoughts:  I adore Cherise Sinclair's books. She consistently treats both her Doms and subs with respect and shows the loving, trust-filled side of a D/s relationship. I hit a patch about a year or so ago where it seemed like all the BDSM-themed books I was picking up were using BDSM as a reason to abuse a main character and I was at the point where I was going to give up on the genre altogether. Then I happened to pick up one of Cherise's books. She breathed life into this genre for me and for that I thank her because this is one of my favorite bookish kinks* and I would have hated losing it.

As far as this book goes, Rebecca and Logan are smokin' hot together. He's a Dom who's afraid to let anybody get to close since he came back from the war. She's always thought of herself as a bit of a cold fish since she's never really been turned on by vanilla sex. Logan dominance in the bedroom allows Rebecca to let loose and truly enjoy herself for the first time. It's both sexy and sweet as he teaches her to trust him and to accept this part of herself as normal.

Wonderfully written and respectful of both the BDSM lifestyle and characters, I am absolutely smitten with everything Cherise Sinclair writes.

*Just so we're clear, I don't use the word 'kink' to denote something bad. My other kinks include amnesiac vampires, #NakedWerewolves, @Rehvenge_BDB, and potential lovers being unexpectedly snowed in.

  1. *cocks head to the left* I've read this review already, haven't I? I think I have, but I also think I haven't had enough coffee this morning to really tell.

    1. You have. I made you read the little footnote about my bookish kinks when I wrote it. =D

  2. I'm excited. Should I stop there?

I'm super pumped to have gotten this one for FREE. It will be my first book in the genre minus a few dominating scenes in the Night Huntress & the Dark Swan. Very intrigued.

    1. I think Cherise Sinclair is a good author to start with. She treats the entire lifestyle with respect and not all authors do in this genre.

      Have fun!
