Discussion Post: Things that make me happy (part 2)

Have you ever had one of those weeks where the little things that wouldn't normally bother you REALLY get you down? Well, I decided that instead of wallowing in my angsty angst, I'm going to focus on some of the things that make me happy.

Btw, I've done this before. All the things on that list? They still make me happy.

Things that make me happy (part 2)

1. All my followers - new and old, talkative and not-so-talkative, big, small, in between. You guys ROCK! The fact that you choose to stop by my blog and take the time to see what I have to say makes me feel all tingly inside. THANK YOU, to each and every one of you!

2. The sheer QUANTITY of quality books out in the world. From paranormal romance to YA to post-apolcalyptic powerhouses full of my beloved broken cities -- there are SO MANY books to choose from. Yes, sometimes the actual choosing can get overwhelming (what to read! what to read!) but the fact that there are books to capture nearly every fancy out there makes me grin.

3. Book signings! I love meeting authors. I love meeting the people who go to meet the authors. No matter how I look at this one, it's a win! (Psst, I went to a book signing for Veronica Rossi last night. *squeal*)

4. The Nieceling and the Boy -- who really do all the things I talk about on Twitter. Seriously, I couldn't make half that stuff up. I mean... who threatens to throw hot corn at a wasp? WHO? The Nieceling, that's who. Yes, sometimes the two of them drive me crazy but they're fun in a way I can appreciate and I miss them when they're gone.

There's more -- there's no limit to the things I can find when I put my mind to it -- but I want to save those so I can pull them out the next time the little things start bugging me.

Tell me some of the things that make you happy. I want to share in your happy thoughts!

  1. Love the happy posts! They make me smile. Always good to meet another Sunshine!

I'm always amazed by the quantity of awesome books in the world, too. So many in my favorite genres, it's impossible to make my way through all of them (which is both good and bad!). *hugs ALL THE BOOKS*

    1. I had a whole section that I deleted about how the YA market has exploded in recent years and there is SO MUCH to choose from now as opposed to when I was growing. But it made me feel old, so it went away. LOL!

But, yes! SO MANY BOOKS! *clutches them tightly*

In all seriousness, it's hard to turn yourself around when it feels like every little thing is an insurmountable boulder that you have to claw your way over. Feel free to smack me around to keep me on my positive thinking track.

I do think that negativity is invasive and sticky, but that posts like these are a good way to counteract that. It's a start, anyway.

    3. I agree. I've said this before but I also think sometimes it's really hard to see our own negativity. It's one of those silent ninja-like things that creeps up until it invades all the aspects of your life. A lot of times it isn't until someone points it out to you (or you have that lightbulb moment yourself) that you realize how much it's wormed it's way into everything you do.

  3. Yay for happy posts! I know I gripe about how many books there are out there and the anxiety I feel over not being able to read them all, but it is quite the awesome thing that we have such great books to read!

    1. I agree. It can be overwhelming because there are SO MANY good books available to us, but imagine if we had none. O.O NO! THAT'S TOO SCARY! HOLD ME!

  6. Sometimes it is SO hard to not let the angsty angst get you down. Good for your for trying to beat it! Positive thoughts can go a long way to beating back those negatives. :)

One of my happy things are having neat organized lists. It's weird but it's me. Lol.

  8. I keep a journal next to my bed and each night (when I remember...) I write down what made me happy that day. Seemed like a more positive way to document my life. Some days it is only something I ate. Some days it's the most amazing kind things someone did for me.
