Review: Trace of Fever by Lori Foster

Trace of Fever (Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor #2) by Lori Foster
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Undercover mercenary Trace Rivers loves the adrenaline rush of a well-planned mission. First he'll earn the trust of corrupt businessman Murray Coburn, then gather the proof he needs to shut down the man's dirty smuggling operation. It's a perfect scheme—until Coburn's long-lost daughter saunters in with her own deadly plan for revenge.

With a smile like an angel and fire in her eyes, Priscilla Patterson isn't who she seems to be. But neither is the gorgeous bodyguard who ignites all her senses. Joining forces to plot Coburn's downfall, Priss and Trace must fight the undeniable heat between them. For one wrong move, one lingering embrace, will expose them to the wrath of a merciless opponent…
My Thoughts: These covers, guys. THESE COVERS! I just want to eat them up! Or maybe lick them. They are scrumptious with a side of delectable. The cover gods were generous the day Lori Foster asked for hot models to grace her steamy stories. I approve.

Hard abs aside, I didn't fall into this book quite as quickly as I fell into book 4 (Yes, I read them completely out of order just to confuse myself). Trace and Priss had chemistry and I liked them once the story got moving but their first interaction was... confusing. Probably because they were both playing their respective parts and it took a bit to dig under those personas and see them for who they really were.

Trace had the Alpha thing down to a T. He was bossy, protective, and Priss turned him on like nobody's business. Priss was determined and forceful and she wasn't willing to give up her quest just because a hunk of burning love had turned her world inside out. I *liked* how she pushed Trace. I liked how he couldn't quite figure out how she kept getting under his skin. I love it when a tough man falls!

Once I got past the bump in the beginning, I was hooked. These boys who risk their lives to save those that can't save themselves are just... wonderfully hot! Rawr!

  1. Glad to see you're catching up... I am making backward progress. I have When You Dare on my shelf, but did you know that the second book in Foster's Love Undercover series is actually considered Book 5 in the Men Who Walk the Edge of Honor series? Well, I didn't until I picked it up and started reading it. Oh well, since, like you, I read A Perfect Storm first, I might as well keep the crazy lack of order train right on track. LOL!

  2. I'm still trying to imagine you licking the covers. Heh. I'm guessing they don't taste as good as they look.

    1. You are correct. They don't taste *quite* as good but... I'm okay with that. *licks discreetly*
