Synopsis (Goodreads):
The balance between good and evil can be an art... or a curse.

Trevor and Caitlin were once happy newlyweds, profiting from Trevor's art. Until Trevor inherits his brother's house, and with it, his part of a family curse. Now, Caitlin will stop at nothing to save her beloved husband from insanity and suicide, even if it means she must embrace her destiny and become a witch.
My Thoughts on The Artist's Inheritance: I keep referring to this book in my head as a good, old-fashioned ghost story. But it's more than that. Madness and curses and critters who shouldn't see the light of day all combine to build a world that is slowly constricting on Caitlin as she watches her husband be consumed by something otherworldly. The hardest part for her is that while she can see that something's happening, she doesn't have the power to stop it.

Wait. That's not quite right either. She has the power, she just doesn't realize it yet. She's caught between knowing that something's wrong and not being able to believe some of the things she's uncovering. Intuition and fact are clashing inside her and it's making things tough for her.

Not to mention that the love of her life is slowly descending into something that wants to hold him tight and trap him in a cycle of violence.

CREEPY.

Fast, creepy, and just the thing if you're looking for a little spook to liven up your day.

Synopsis (Goodreads):
Though their fame became legend, a rumor cropped up about the Fulmer family: Something terrifying stalked Caitlin and her beloved Trevor. Something the bits and pieces she left claimed she had to make sense of. When the curator of their collection finds Caitlin's long forgotten diary, she wonders will it tell the whole tale? Will it tell why Caitlin seemed so determined to tell the difference between reality and nightmare even as she continued the fight to defend her family from evil? Will it explain why she thought her world twisted? If she really became a witch?

Perhaps the answer lies between the lines of her story, one of lessons, struggles, and the hopes she carried like a warrior's shield.
My Thoughts on Caitlin's Book of Shadows: Very short, but it gives some backstory on a few months of Caitlin and Trevor's lives after the events in book 1. Caitlin's dreams are HORRID and wonderfully creepy and you're left balancing between wondering if she merely has an overactive imagination or if the imp that was bedeviling her husband really has returned.

Ultimately you don't get the answer to that question in this story, but it whets the appetite for the next installment in the series. Because Trevor and Caitlin might have broken the curse hanging over Trevor's head, but they've also stepped into a world where anything is possible.

And that's exciting!
