He’s already lost everyone dear to him and refuses to lose her as well, but when danger comes, the only choices they can make are heartbreaking ones.
Seriously, this one was fun. Mariah stumbles over a vampire who's been entombed for a long, long time and she's smart enough to treat him with compassion. Which makes the vampire sit up and take notice. THINGS GO FROM THERE. Sort of. I mean, the downside of Mariah's telepathic gift is that she can't touch anyone who wields death magic so they kinda have to keep their distance.
Then all hell breaks loose (in a sense) and THINGS HAPPEN. THINGS. They happen.
I really, really enjoyed this one and the complex world we're given a glimpse into. *eyes the rest of the series* Uh-huh.
