Synopsis (Goodreads):
Zetithians are back. And they're hotter than ever...

Having the Zetithian feline gene gives Larry Tshevnoe awesome beauty, fearsome strength, sensuality and sexual prowess unmatched by any other males in the universe. But it can make the quest for true love...complicated.

Enter childhood friend and fellow Zetithian Althea Banadänsk. Her empathic powers make her the only one who can show Larry what he truly desires, and she'll do anything to help...even if that means hiding her desperate craving for him.

But when a distress call sends them off course—and into danger—they find more than their hearts are at stake. Now it's up to them to become the champions of truth and justice throughout the galaxy...or risk losing it all.
Thoughts on Maverick: Oh my goodness. I remember reading Larry's parents' story ages ago. I kinda loved how fantastic the Zetithians were. I mean, they suffered terribly after their planet was destroyed and yet they persevered in the face of overwhelming odds. As a reward, they ended up with their perfect someone. *heart eyes*

This series follows the second generation and all the shenanigans they get into. Since pretty much all the Zetithians are hybrids now, who knows what their capable of. I mean, Althea has the gift that comes through her mother's blood AND the issues that plague the female Zetithians. What issues? Oh, you know. She's weirdly unmoved by her male counterparts' desire to impress her which means they have to REALLY turn up the heat to get her interested.

Which makes for an interesting dynamic between Althea and Larry. Not only did they grow up together, they're trying to be very careful not to cross any lines that could put them in any uncomfortable situations.

Until they just chuck those lines out the window and go all in.

I wasn't terribly thrilled with the fact that Larry had a girlfriend of sorts prior to him pulling Althea into his orbit, but...I don't know. It didn't bother me as much as it might have. Maybe because their relationship seemed very distant. Frankly, neither of them were bothered by how everything played out, so I'm good with it. (Still not thrilled, but it wasn't a deal-breaker.)

(There's more to this book than just Althea and Larry figuring things out, btw. There's a whole THING they have to do. It's important.)

I enjoyed catching up with Jack, Cat, and the others. I enjoyed getting to revisit the Zetithians and their supreme prowess with the opposite sex. I just like these guys, okay? I like them. They're over the top and some of the situations they end up in are ridiculous, but they're always fun.
