Synopsis (Goodreads):
He’s a player.

He plays the bass with expert fingers. He plays women with intoxicating charm. And he’ll play me with the ease of a virtuoso.

Who better to teach me to play than the master himself?

I’m his model student, front row, pencil sharp. Pick up lines? I’ve got them. Free drinks? By the dozen. Kissing? Let me grab my chapstick.

But the most valuable lesson I’ve learned is that there’s so much I don’t know. Like why his touch sets off a chain reaction straight to my nethers. Or how I’m certain each kiss is the best I’ll ever have, until the moment his lips take mine again.

There’s so much I don’t know.

Like the fact that I’m only a bet.

But we are what we are. He’s a player, through and through.

And I’m the fool who fell in love with him.
Thoughts on Player: Oh, man. You know how you can see the dark moment coming and you just *know* it's going to destroy all the carefully crafted emotions you've been watching the characters build toward? And you know how sometimes you have to put your book down to give yourself a minute to just breathe through it?

Yeah.

That.

Val and Sam killed me. Dead. I am dead. In a good way, I guess, although the being dead part was a drag. It all worked out though. Because after dying dramatically, I was revived by a shot of unadulterated romance. No, wait. It's all romance. Some of it's just messy and painful and makes everything huuuuuuurrrrrrrt. Again, in a good way.

I just...loved these two. Sure, sure. Sam had to lie to himself THROUGH HIS TEETH to convince himself he could do this thing with Val without falling for her. And Val was in the same metaphorical boat as she convinced herself (kind of) that she could totally abide by the boundaries Sam set. They were just so stinking cute together. And Sam teaching Val that all the little things she saw as flaws in herself weren't flaws at all...*swoon*

I really liked these two. They were awkward and bold and sometimes ridiculous and always wonderful. Even when it fell apart. Although the making up part was better than the apart. Just so you know.

In other words: Staci Hart has done it again. She's given me characters I adore and a book I couldn't put down.
