Synopsis (Goodreads):
Hadley owes a wicked fae seven beating hearts, Boaz and Addie are coming for a visit, and her city is going up in magical flames.

Betrayal and heartbreak. Chocolate and sentient shadows.

Just another night in Atlanta.
Thoughts on Proof of Life: Okay. A lot happens here. In a good way. To start with, Hadley and Midas had been creeping along with their relationship in previous books (which is in no way a bad thing, but a big chunk of their caution when it came to *them* was because of the secrets they were holding onto) and I feel like they both reached a point where they're...more comfortable with it. Or maybe they've both started to realize their happiness wasn't going to be yanked away just because they were happy. They could make this thing work and, by GUM, they were going to fight for it.

*happy sounds*

Yep, those close-held secrets have been finally spilled. They both see the other's flaws (self-perceived and otherwise) and they're both okay with them. Even better, those close to Hadley now know the truth and that's a good thing since it will help keep them on guard against anything like that happening to other vulnerable members of the family. (Also, I LOVE Tisdale. Her whole-hearted acceptance of Hadley as Midas's mate makes me grin. She might be a tough, scary alpha, but she treats family like they matter and YESSSSSSS.)

And then we have the big bad thing hiding in the shadows. Events here allow the crew to figure out the reason why they were tasked with finding seven beating hearts and it's not pretty. Which means they *now* have to figure out how to outwit a wicked, clever fae so they don't put themselves or their city at even greater risk. (OMG. I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE HOW THIS PLAYS OUT!)

Secrets, family reunions (of both the good and bad variety), steamy kisses, and a whole lot of danger. Hadley isn't one to stand idly by when bad things happen (especially when those she cares about are involved) and she has a solid crew to back her up. YES!
