Synopsis (Goodreads):
Katherine wasn't looking for anything extraordinary in her life. She had a job she loved, a husband she adored, and a home in the beautiful seaside town of Moonstone Cove.

Okay yes, she worked too much and had fallen out of touch with all her friends, but that happened to everyone, right? And sure, she was feeling a little creaky in the mornings and couldn't drink coffee after noon, but that was just life in middle age.

Four minutes was all it took for fate to run away with anything that resembled normal.

Now Katherine is trying to place mysterious psychic visions into her previously ordered life. She's playing referee between a displaced Southern mama and a sarcastic mechanic with a chip on her shoulder. And her quiet life has been upended by a mysterious rash of violent acts by students at her school.

Thankfully, her new friends have powers of their own, and together they just might discover who or what has it in for the quiet citizens of Moonstone Cove.
Thoughts on Runaway Fate: To say Katherine was NOT expecting to suddenly start having microvisions would be a bit of an understatement. Then again, who ever DOES expect that? Regardless, as a professor and academic, she wasn't expecting to have this seemingly-paranormal ability suddenly manifest. She certainly wasn't expecting to stop what could have been a mass shooting. And she really wasn't expecting to find others who had abilities.

On the plus side, Katherine's experience led her to making friends with women who are dealing with similarly sudden manifestations of abilities. Toni and Megan are as different as night and day from both Katherine and one another, but they're able to bounce ideas off one another and learn the boundaries of their abilities together and that's definitely a good thing.

Friendship born in the midst of (potential) violence and figuring out what they can do with their abilities in a relatively short amount of time is where it begins. On the reader end, seeing familiar faces (Hello, Glimmer Lake crew!) and watching Katherine follow the clues to stop bad events from happening is a hoot. I really liked the GL women and their trials in coming to terms with their new powers and this new group looks to be just as interesting. *thumbs up*
