Synopsis (Goodreads):
When wealthy socialite Priscilla Jane Hamilton Greer is kidnapped and held hostage in the Costa Rican jungle, burned out ex-secret agent Grant Sullivan is tapped to bring her back home to her powerful father. But Jane, as she calls herself, is like nothing Grant expects. In fact, she’s unlike any other woman he’s ever met, with her own plan for escaping her captor. When she finally agrees to accept his help, their partnership is complicated by the off-the-charts chemistry between them. Now the stakes are even higher for Grant. Because once he gets Jane out of the jungle, he’d like to keep her in his arms—forever. . . .Thoughts on Midnight Rainbow: This is a reread for me and I had fun revisiting Jane and Grant. To be fair, I enjoyed this book A LOT when I read it originally (which was long enough ago that I have a battered paperback copy with one of the earlier covers on it), so some of that fun was nostalgia (but most of it was just Jane and Grant dancing around one another as they dealt with a terrible situation).
So. Jane and Grant. On the surface, Jane looks like a woman who skates by on her wealth and looks and doesn't have a clue how dangerous her situation is. In reality, Jane's smart and determined and isn't about to wait around for a rescue she isn't sure is coming. On Grant's end, he's burned out and burned up and he really doesn't want to trekking through the jungle to rescue a brainless socialite. To say Jane surprises him with her escape and determination to stay alive is an understatement.
It also might be a slight understatement to say both Jane and Grant are a little shocked by the heat between them.
A steamy jungle, some bad guys with a nasty plan, fighting as foreplay, danger, smokin' hot kisses, a man who is trying to find himself, and a lady who is determined to survive. Good stuff all around.
