Synopsis (Goodreads):
Scarlett has never heard anything good about the Vultor but when she encounters one on her way to her grandmother’s house, he is nothing like she expects. She should be afraid - especially when he threatens to keep her forever - but what if she doesn’t want him to let her go?Thoughts on Big, Bad Alien: We're back on Cresca where humans and aliens have a bit of an uneasy truce. It's a big planet, but tensions sometimes flare and one of those flares led to the death of Finnar's family. To say he hasn't dealt with his grief or come to terms with losing them might be understating things.
Humans took everything from Finnar, and he is determined to make them pay. When a pretty little human stumbles into his path she seems like the perfect target for his revenge. If only she didn’t awaken feelings he’d thought gone forever…
Frankly, the guy is a simmering time bomb. He's snarly, avoids both humans and his own kind, and plots how he can avenge his family. Which is not healthy in any respect.
Then he crosses paths with Scarlett as she heads through the woods to her grandmother's and...well, her presence confuses Finnar. He SHOULD hate her just because she's human, but he finds himself actively working to keep her safe instead. So to counteract his protective side, he whisks her away to his den and vows he's going to force her to stay there and keep house while he figures out what to do with her.
This all sounds bad, but Scarlett isn't really afraid for herself. She's more concerned about how her grandma will worry. Sure, she's not the hugest fan of being held prisoner, but she sees something in Finnar that makes her realize he's a sad, lonely Vultor who hasn't allowed himself to grieve. The fact she's wildly attracted to him even though he'd holding her in his den might help things along on that point.
Anywho. A little danger forces Scarlett and Finnar to admit there might be something between them and THINGS HAPPEN! Throw in a little more danger, some dealing with the past, and a welcoming (-ish) group of Vultor and these two are in their happy place. GOOD TIMES!
