Thoughts on Space Mercenary's Prize: We met Ckarus (briefly) in Jillian's book and he is still a little down that Jillian ended up with Jakkan. To be fair, Ckarus hadn't formed any sort of mating bond with Jillian, but he liked her and hoped things would progress in that direction. Fortunately for everyone, they did not because once Jenny crashed into him (literally), all bets were off.

As in, Ckarus might have been a little drunk, but he liiiiikkkked what he saw. Sure, Jenny was skinny and dirty and on the run from a terrible owner, but he knew there was something there. He knew. So he swooped in and kicked some slave-owning booty and soon and he Jenny were trying to stay low as they worked on a plan to get out of town.

On Jenny's end, she might now exactly know the big, drunk Tallean, but he was a far better option than her new owner. He was big, surprisingly sweet, and more gentlemanly than she expected. So when he offers to help her get to Reka 5, she takes him up on the offer. It doesn't take long before she figures out Ckarus is everything she wants in a male.

A nasty former owner, a trip to the wilds, a cup of tea with interesting side effects, a male who is determined to keep his human safe (by taking her to one of the deadliest places on the planet), and a lady who trusts her instinct when it says the big guy protecting her is a good male. *thumbs up*
