Synopsis (Goodreads):
Adrian Rizzo was seven when she met her father for the first time. That was the day he nearly killed her—before her mother, Lina, stepped in.

Soon after, Adrian was dropped off at her grandparents’ house in Maryland, where she spent a long summer drinking lemonade, playing with dogs, making a new best friend—and developing the stirrings of a crush on her friend’s ten-year-old brother. Lina, meanwhile, traveled the country promoting her fitness brand and turning it into a billion-dollar business. There was no point in dwelling on the past.

A decade later, Adrian has created her own line of yoga and workout videos, following in Lina’s footsteps but intent on maintaining creative control. And she’s just as cool-headed and ambitious as her mother. They aren’t close, but they’re cordial—as long as neither crosses the other.

But while Lina dismisses the death threats that Adrian starts getting as a routine part of her daughter’s growing celebrity, Adrian can’t help but find the vicious rhymes unsettling. Year after year, they keep arriving—the postmarks changing, but the menacing tone the same. They continue after she returns to Maryland and becomes reacquainted with Raylan, her childhood crush, all grown up and as gorgeously green-eyed as ever. Sometimes it even seems like the terrifying messages are indeed routine, like nothing will come of them. Until the murders start, and the escalation begins…
Thoughts on Legacy: Adrian is a driven woman. Growing up in a household where her mother turned what could have been a trying experience into a thriving business, she learned the value of hard work and drive. Her father's attack on them didn't change that, but it did help mold Adrian into a person who didn't let setbacks stop her. She followed her mother's example and found workarounds and ways to make the things she wanted happen.

That said, Adrian and her mother weren't close. The drive that pushed Lina to create a fitness empire also kept them apart, but in a weird, distant way. Adrian might admire her mother, but she also wanted to make something of herself outside of her mother's shadow.

So she did. She surrounded herself with people who supported her and shared her dream and she made it happen. When family issues bring her back to the town her grandparents lived in, she turned what her mother saw as a negative into a new chapter in her life. All while dealing with disturbing notes sent by someone who did not have Adrian's well-being at heart.

Then there's Raylan. The beginnings of their spark happened when they were kids. They grew up and had lives and Raylan moved back to his hometown after a terrible tragedy. Reconnecting with Adrian was unexpected in every way. Raising two kids while dealing with grief is tough and he absolutely didn't expect to find any sort of romance after what he'd been through.

It doesn't take long before THINGS HAPPEN and soon those sparks are a full-blown bonfire. Also, Raylan's pup and Adrian's pup kind of have a thing. And it's absolutely the cutest thing IN THE WORLD.

But there's still a threat hanging over Adrian's head and the clock seems to be ticking down to when it will all come to a head.

A little danger, a little break from reality (in a super creepy way), two puppers in lurve, a man (and his kiddos) who like all the things Adrian brings to the table, and a lady who sets goals and makes them happen. *thumbs up*
