Review: Passion Unleashed by Larissa Ione

Passion Unleashed (Demonica #3) by Larissa Ione
Synopsis (Goodreads):
FORBIDDEN TEMPTATIONS

Serena Kelley is an archaeologist and treasure hunter-and a woman with a secret. Since she was seven, she's been the keeper of a powerful charm that grants her health and immortality . . . as long as she stays a virgin. But Serena isn't all that innocent. And when a dangerously handsome stranger brings her to the brink of ecstasy, she wonders if she's finally met the one man she cannot resist.

FATAL DESIRES

Wraith is a Seminus demon with a death wish. But when an old enemy poisons him, he must find Serena and persuade her to give him the only known antidote in the universe-her charm. Yet, as she begins to surrender to his seductions and Wraith senses the cure is within his grasp, he realizes a horrible truth: He's falling for the woman whose life he must take in order to save his own.
My Thoughts: Helllllo, Wraith! I've been waiting for his book since we first met the tormented half-vampire in book one and I'm happy to say that he didn't disappoint. Oh, and not to be shallow or anything but I kinda sorta love this cover. Tattoos, hot dude and big muscles? Niiiiiiiice.

So. Wraith. He was screwed up by his childhood - and who wouldn't be after being tortured for countless years by their mother? - and he was skating the edge of crazy for a while. His brothers don't exactly trust him to do the right thing because he hasn't been the most unselfish of demons. The deranged brother who he tried to kill has sent a couple of assassins after him (and E and Shade) and now he's dying from a really nasty poison. He could have been completely unlikable but he wasn't. He's messed up. He always seems to be looking for a fight. He doesn't understand how E and Shade can be so devoted to their mates. As a character, he's everything I love.

I liked Serena from the beginning. She's strong and her charm has made her a little cocky since she can't get hurt, but she loves treasure hunting and adventure and she wants to experience life. Her celibacy is a barrier that she'd gladly give up, yet the charm that keeps her alive depends upon it. Oh, and did I mention that she and Wraith are pretty freaking hot together? Indeed they were.

I love the introduction of Lore and the huge strides the overall arc took. In fact, this book grabbed that arc and gave it a good shake. Things are moving, people. We'll have to see how things stand once the dust settles.

For the record, I'm totally loving this series.
