State of the Kelly [4]

Howdy, y'all!

It's the end of 2013 and I thought I'd take a look back at what I accomplished this year and what I have planned for 2014. Because it's always fun to celebrate, RIGHT?

Anyway. I upped my Goodreads 2013 reading goal a few times throughout the year until finally setting it at 650 books. As of the writing of this, I'm a smidge under 700 books read for the year. I'd love to hit 700 but I'm not going to kill myself to do it. Because 680+ books is a good number and I'm pleased with it.

Amanda and I ran the Seriously Series challenge in 2013 and I aced what I was aiming for. In fact, I hit 18+ series read in both the 'in 2013' and 'before 2013' categories every quarter. Being able to cross series off my TBR list was awesome and I'm bringing back the challenge in 2014. If you read series like I do, this is the challenge for you!

I've been toying with whether or not I wanted to bring back the Why Buy the Cow? reading challenge for another year. In 2013, I read close to 250 freebies but I stopped tracking them in September. So... I kinda killed this challenge. Honestly, I read enough that I don't personally need the push to get those freebies read. While the challenge isn't tough to set up, I'm terrible at visiting other blogs for this particular challenge to cheer participants on. Then I feel bad because I'm NOT doing it. So... I'm letting this one go. We had a good run and I've enjoyed finding freebies but I won't be hosting it in 2014.

2013 saw me publish two books under the pen name Kelly Apple -- Demon Restrained and The Wicked Woods. For everyone who's given my words a chance - THANK YOU! I have multiple books already written in both series that I plan on putting out in 2014. Keep your eyes on KellyApple.com to see what's coming soon!

To all my readers, my fans, my friends, and anyone else to stumbled over my blog... I hope your 2013 was a success!

Let's see what 2014 brings!

  1. Wasn't it THIS year that you changed the look of your blog, too??? New look AND you're a published writer - DAMN! That's a huge year! Can't wait for the next books! You must write like your read... constantly :)

    Happy New Year!!

    1. YES! I did give my blog a rather heavy duty make-over! I had forgotten about that!

I try to stick to a writing schedule (as in, write a minimum of 3K words per day) but I don't feel like I write particularly fast. I just had a bunch of my potential books stockpiled for when I finally broke through my fears and put them out there. AND THAT WAS THIS YEAR! WOOT!

Thanks, Kristin! Happy New Year to you, too!

    1. It's my superpower. I read like a circus freak. =D My philosophy is -- if you're reading, you're doing it right. No matter how many or how few books you read!
