Synopsis (Goodreads):
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrew comes an enthralling new trilogy set in the Hidden Legacy world, where magic means power, and family bloodlines are the new currency of society…

In a world where magic is the key to power and wealth, Catalina Baylor is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, and the Head of her House. Catalina has always been afraid to use her unique powers, but when her friend’s mother and sister are murdered, Catalina risks her reputation and safety to unravel the mystery.

But behind the scenes powerful forces are at work, and one of them is Alessandro Sagredo, the Italian Prime who was once Catalina’s teenage crush. Dangerous and unpredictable, Alessandro’s true motives are unclear, but he’s drawn to Catalina like a moth to a flame.

To help her friend, Catalina must test the limits of her extraordinary powers, but doing so may cost her both her House–and her heart.
Thoughts on Sapphire Flames: The Baylor family is BACK and things are just as crazy as when Nevada and Rogan were running around all willy-nilly saving the city. Just kidding. Rogan doesn't do willy-nilly. But things are crazy. And Catalina is right in the middle of things.

You know, mostly because the Baylors can't look away when they see an injustice and Catalina won't abandon a friend.

Speaking of which, Catalina has grown by leaps and bounds from the girl who tried to fade into the background before. She might not love being in the spotlight as the head of a powerful house, but she steps up and does what needs to be done because her family needs her to.

And then we have Alessandro. The playboy. The man born with a silver spoon. The guy who keeps showing up and stepping into danger to do battle with the bad guys with the ease of someone who's well trained. Why is he well trained? That's a question for another book. But the guy has layers. Hidden layers. So many layers.

And he has it as bad for Catalina as Catalina has it for him. There's just that mysterious THING hanging between them and truuuuueeee love. Ehh...and maybe a few other things.

Catalina and Alessandro are living up to all the tension and magical shenanigans I've come to expect from this series. *heart eyes* *heart eyes so hard*
