Synopsis (Goodreads):
He’s a fighter in the rink, but he’s about to learn that playing nice can help you score...

As team captain and enforcer, Patrick O'Doul puts the bruise in the Brooklyn Bruisers. But after years of hard hits, O'Doul is feeling the burn, both physically and mentally. He conceals his pain from his coach and trainers, but when his chronic hip injury becomes too obvious to ignore, they send him for sessions with the team’s massage therapist.

After breaking up with her long-term boyfriend, Ari Bettini is in need of peace of mind. For now, she’s decided to focus on her work: rehabilitating the Bruisers’ MVP. O'Doul is easy on the eyes, but his reaction to her touch is ice cold. Ari is determined to help O'Doul heal, but as the tension between them turns red hot, they both learn that a little TLC does the body good...
Thoughts on Hard Hitter: The brooding, sometimes surly team captain is up next and his special lady friend is the massage therapist who teaches him to get over his aversion to being touched. No lie, I liked Ari's thought process as she mentally worked through how to help him. I mean, the guy literally didn't care to be touched. Not by her. Not by anyone. And she not only gets him to relax for her, suddenly he's all over the touching.

With her, at least.

The fact that Ari needs someone on her side when things go south with her ex and Patrick steps into that void worked for me. Ari was a strong, confident woman, but even the strongest need someone to help shoulder their burdens sometimes. Which is something Patrick had to learn along the way, too, come to think of it.

The guy might have a little baggage, but he's a total softie under the glower. Well, maybe not a TOTAL softie, but he did have a softer side that he only started to show around Ari initially. By the by, Georgia and Becca's awe over him being affectionate with Ari the first time around them gave me the giggles.

I do enjoy when a big, strong man shows his sweeter side.

I like the supporting characters. I LOVED O'Doul soliciting ideas from his (kinda clueless) teammates on how to woo his lady. I loved Ari's attitude. I'm just loving this series altogether.
