Synopsis (Goodreads):
Anna St. James is having a great summer. Her newest tenant is working out fine, the weather on Frostfall Island is fabulous and the tourists have returned. (Although Anna wishes there were a few less of them.)

The island is hosting a massive romance reader event complete with big name authors, cover models, enthusiastic readers and best of all ice cream sundaes. Anna’s sister, Cora, and their eccentric housemate, Opal, are anxious to attend so they can meet their favorite authors. Anna decides to tag along to see what all the excitement is about. And excitement is definitely not lacking. When one of the most popular authors winds up dead, it is up to Anna to find out which of her many enemies was pushed far enough to commit murder.
Thoughts on Death by Rocky Road: We're back on Frostfall Island with Anna and her crew and the island is awash in romance readers (and writers) for an event. There's a little rivalry (among the writers), a little fangirling (among the readers), and a little case of murder. Which Anna ends up right in the middle of.

Anna tags along to the event with Cora and Opal and ends up investigating the death of one of the authors after the seriously inept mainland police officer declares said death an accident. Given the circumstances (possibly the first death by ice cream the island had seen) and the fact Anna had seen this particular author have more than one run-in with various individuals, there's a lot going on.

But Anna's up to the job. She does her thing and follows thin clues until she figures out who did the deed. By the by, Nate is VERY bad at hiding his former occupation. He's unwound enough that he's starting to let things slip and it might not be long before his secret's out. (Not that it's a secret-secret, but the man does like his privacy.)

Death by ice cream. Not nearly as fun a way to go as one would think.
