Synopsis (Goodreads):
The National Kite Flyer’s Club has chosen Frostfall Island for their annual summer kite fair. The island is busy with tourists and kite enthusiasts. Anna St. James is looking forward to the weekend, even though her boyfriend, Nate, will be spending the days mountain biking on the mainland.Thoughts on Killing at the Kite Fair: Anna certainly has her hands full with the kite flying group filling up the skies with kites and intrigue. Given that the victim isn't all that well liked by his fellow kite-flyers, she has her hands full sorting through motives and whereabouts.
A mysterious boat anchored offshore has a few of the locals worried, but Anna is sure there’s nothing to it until the festive kite fair takes a dark turn when one of the members is found dead. Anna was sure it would be an enjoyable few days, but now she’s wrapped up in a murder case. Except… the shocking murder might be the least stunning part of her weekend.
As if that isn't enough, a boat anchoring just outside the harbor has the locals in a tizzy. Not because of anything it's done, but because of all the things it hasn't done.
While Anna sorts through clues on the crime committed, she's on a tight time frame since the kite flying group will all be heading off-island soon and the murderer might end up getting away with his crime. That said, she ends up with answers to questions that have been lingering for a while and some closure. Added bonus: She and Nate are still tight as a couple and some of Anna's fears about island life being too slow for the former detective seem like a non-issue.
A few indiscretions, a little spying, a shock or two that Anna certainly didn't see coming, and answers on more than one front. It's never dull on Frostfall!
